No beginning and no end

The photo shows an item that is in the house where we stayed while visiting our son in Melbourne, Australia. It’s made from a single piece of wood and has no beginning or end. It’s very clever but such things blow my mind in some ways. They don’t make much ‘sense’. We’re still in the house in Melbourne but will leave in an hour or two to catch firstly a tram, then a bus to take us to the airport. Because of the time difference between Victoria and Western Australia, our four-hour journey will seem to take two. It will be good to be home.

It's a bit different. I've seen drawings of steps too where it's all sort of 'wrong'. I don't know how to describe it.

I have a hard time with time differences, as it takes me weeks to get use to it. In the United States most of the states change the clock and hour forward or an hour back depending on when somebody reads this post.

Mostly we are two hours behind the eastern states but some of them have daylight saving too which further complicates matters.

@JudyEv Correct, I have a book of MC Escher and you can find plenty of videos on YouTube showing his artwork.

I learnt from Fleur (@Fleura) that M C Escher does this sort of artwork so it was interesting to find out a bit more about his works.

I hope you're home and the journey felt just as short as the time difference pretends it took.

We'll have a late night tonight if we go to the movies at home. It will be 10pm for us at the time but our bodies will be thinking it's midnight.

That piece sounds fascinating—those kinds of designs always leave me wondering how they’re even made! Glad you’ve had a lovely stay in Melbourne. Safe travels back home—nothing like your own space after a trip!

It's like those pieces that are made from one piece of wood. I've seen a chain made this way and it's quite mind-boggling.

We have muggus or what is known as rangoli or whatever you may call in your world. Some of them are like that. LOL But carving one...without any purpose.............the reason to put those designs was to encourage artistic endeavors of women and use up the waste food inside the house...that waste food was usually dried and ground to make these things I am told. Idea was to feed the insects outside the house so that they would not come inside. Nowadays people use chalk or chalk powder...
