No beginning and no end

The photo shows an item that is in the house where we stayed while visiting our son in Melbourne, Australia. It’s made from a single piece of wood and has no beginning or end.
It’s very clever but such things blow my mind in some ways. They don’t make much ‘sense’.
We’re still in the house in Melbourne but will leave in an hour or two to catch firstly a tram, then a bus to take us to the airport. Because of the time difference between Victoria and Western Australia, our four-hour journey will seem to take two. It will be good to be home.

We're home now and the weather is equally as bad as Melbourne's at the moment.

I love seeing puzzles like that …you can spend hours trying to work it out.

I have a hard time with time differences, as it takes me weeks to get use to it. In the United States most of the states change the clock and hour forward or an hour back depending on when somebody reads this post.

Mostly we are two hours behind the eastern states but some of them have daylight saving too which further complicates matters.

Just kind of meant to be a conversation piece I guess.

I'd say so. I can't think of a practical purpose for it.

Time dragging or time saving has happened to me while on those foreign trips.
East, West home is best. Safe travel

I hope you're home and the journey felt just as short as the time difference pretends it took.

It's like those pieces that are made from one piece of wood. I've seen a chain made this way and it's quite mind-boggling.

We have muggus or what is known as rangoli or whatever you may call in your world. Some of them are like that. LOL
But carving one...without any purpose.............the reason to put those designs was to encourage artistic endeavors of women and use up the waste food inside the house...that waste food was usually dried and ground to make these things I am told. Idea was to feed the insects outside the house so that they would not come inside. Nowadays people use chalk or chalk powder...

That's so cool. It reminds of the artist M. C. Escher.

I didn't know about this man but someone else has mentioned him too. Thanks for that.

It's pretty clever. I think there is a knot that doesn't have a beginning or an end too.
