Can Trump really reduce my medicine costs by 600 per cent?

Some "Liberal" websites are claiming that Trump said he could reduce medicine costs by 600 per cent. As anyone who graduated 5th Grade arithmetic knows, it is impossible to reduce medicine costs by 600 per cent. A 100 per cent decrease in medicine costs would mean free medicine. At least one website went so far as to post video ostensibly showing Trump saying this. Do you believe Trump actually said this? Are Lefties resorting to AI to make Trump look like an idiot? I can't find the link right now. But it looked real to me. Maybe I am just another "blind consumer."

Someone posted that on the Microsoft news sites. They like where does Trump come up with these numbers,1000 percent 600, 500? it is impossible. I have heard people say you have to give 110 percent in like sports, even at work, military and stuff, but I get that. You are so tired, its meant as you have to even dig deeper to get the desired results you want, but what Trump is saying does not meet the laws of reality. These people really believe if you say it, then it will come true. No, it does not work like that either. First it has to make sense for it to become reality.

@DaddyEvil Good point, for people I guess. I hope the apocalypse never happens because Trump types are going to be screwed when they do not know how to find their own food to survive long enough to get back to where he can smooth talk people into bringing him food.

No, it doesn't have to make sense or we wouldn't have trump as president.

He said that it would be reduced by 1000 to 1500 percent. Moron. As are the people who believe that.

There's no way to know for sure, the media has the power to truncate everything anyone says just by editing a video so that only that which they want you to think someone said is true. At least Conkite simply relayed the news back in the day because journalists weren't out to get high ratings at that time.

@rebelann I'd bet TV producers were concerned about rating even back then.Business is business. But Cronkite did have that air of integrity and objectivity about him.

@porwest Great minds think alike. Here's your thousand dollar prescription for free. And here's a $5,000 check. Thanks for voting for me.

@TheHorse The bottom line is that you can't unless you are willing to get the pharmaceutical companies to hand you a check with your prescription. That's all I will say about this.

It's so odd (to me) that some people lie even when they don't have to. In this case, Trump just made an idiot of himself by demonstrating an absolute lack of understanding of what "per cent" means.

@TheHorse Fair enough but the fact remains that it's difficult to be sure sometimes who's creating what.

Regardless of 600 or even 100%, the fact that the Trump administration might impose additional import duty on medicines imported from India could in fact jack up medicine prices of many generics in US. If the first tranche of Indo US deals comes through, then that might be avoided. And well, now everyone knows that Trump exaggerates a lot !

It is not quite possible actually. My government did reduced it by 50% by direct subsidies for the patients.

@TheHorse 50% is not through the forcing of the medication cost to be lower but to subsidies it. Because we also have a force saving plans which we have to automatically save 20% of our incomes through the government provision funds, the huge medical expenses can be deducted directly from these account. Hence, the real out of pocket payment is not that great compared to other countries.

If they're going to do it, maybe it should start with the law makers. Presidential initiative only last when the leader is in the term. But seriously, that's really fishy to me.. I think the simplest way to reduce medicine price is to import some from foreign countries or let the govt. subsidizes. Pharma Companies don't like that specially their taxes are high.

@TheHorse Really? There are a lot of things wrong with our educational system but, if a person wants to learn, they can do well and not be stupid... trump didn't want to learn so is still stupid and shows it every time he opens his mouth.
