Steak and Steamed Mixed Veggies for Lunch

Pretty was awake when I woke up at 5 pm, so I asked if there was anything special she wanted me to do with the steaks... She asked me to cook them with Ranch salad dressing drizzled over them... That suits me fine, so I got busy making our lunch. As the steaks were getting close to done, I put a bag of steamed mixed veggies into the microwave and dumped a sweet onion into the frying pan with the steaks... (Pretty doesn't want fried onions but I love them.) Anyone else ready for lunch? Photo is mine.

Thank you. We couldn't eat the entire steaks... But they were delicious... I put the leftovers in a container in the fridge and we can finish them for late supper tonight. We buy steaks every two or three months.

@sallypup Steak isn't my favorite meat but I do like it once in a while... Seared on the outside and still pink and oozing on the inside.

That looks a great meal. Vince has had better luck cooking steaks lately after someone on Quora gave some tips. He lets them get to room temperature then salts both sides before frying them.

I'm sorry Vince had to go looking for instructions on how to cook as steak. I just throw them in a hot, buttered pan and put the lid on after sprinkling whatever spices on we went. I let them sizzle until I can smell them from across the room in a chair I'm sitting reading in and then flip them and put the lid back on until they stop sizzling again. They come out seared on the outside and still pink on the inside.

That plate looks yummy although I do not eat meat and fish these days I have never steamed vegetables. How do you do it?

Thank you... I buy a bag of steamed veggies and just need to microwave them. If it was broccoli, I do steam those at home, though. I have a stock pot and put water in the bottom 1/4 of it and heat it up. Then I put the broccoli into a drain basket and hang that on top of the stock pot. The steam goes through the broccoli until it's as done as I want it to be. Then I dump the broccoli in a bowl and add spices to it and enjoy it.

I just seared the outside of the steaks. The inside is still nice and pink... Pretty won't eat it if it has blood still oozing out.

I was just talking about steaks the other day, and I am starting to think it's high time I go out and get some and throw them on the grill with fried mushrooms and onions to top them. Your meal looks and sounds like one fit for a king.

Thanks... It was delicious but too much food... I couldn't finish the steak so saved half of it for my evening meal and made mashed potatoes to go with it then. I really wish Pretty would eat mushrooms. I love them but she says they taste like dirt and won't eat anything that's been close to a mushroom.

I couldn't eat the whole steak at lunch time so had half of it for supper last night with mashed potatoes. It was just as good the second meal. I hope yours was delicious, too.
