Sloppy Joes for Late Lunch

I woke up at 5 pm and decided sloppy Joes sounded good for lunch today... We bought ground beef and ground pork a few days ago so I needed to bag those up and freeze whatever I wasn't using today.
3/4 lbs of ground beef in a Ziploc bag with 1/4 lbs ground pork are my normal mix. (The mix of the two meats is called Boston Burger here but I have no clue why.)
I slice a medium sized Vidalia (sweet) onion and cooked it with the two types of meat along with some spices. When they were all done, I added a can of Manwich and let it simmer for 30 minutes.
Then made two sandwiches with hamburger buns... YUM! I also have plain corn chips as a side dish.
Photo is mine.

@allknowing Yup! I inherited the trait from mom. She was always up late into the night reading or doing quiet things around the house. When I was a kid, I'd get up to see what she was doing and a lot of the time, we'd go outside and talk until I fell asleep.
Now, Pretty has inherited the same trait and is often awake playing video games or talking online until early the next morning when she goes to sleep, too.

Thanks. It's a popular food in the US.
Manwich is a tomato sauce that's pre-made so sloppy joes is easy to make and tastes delicious.

It's really good, especially all the onions I add to it.
Thanks. I made a huge bowl of sloppy joe meat if you're hungry... There are two packs of burger buns in the fridge, too.

I make sloppy joes about once a month or so. I really like them. Pretty will eat one once in a while.

Yum. That looks good. I have four chicken thighs left from yesterday but needed a side dish. I made cold tuna salad. Celery, radishes, green onions, peas, albacore tuna and dressing in mine and mayonnaise in hers. I used garlic powder, lemon pepper and smoked paprika. I think it's cold enough now to eat. I already had a small "test bowl" earlier to make sure it wasn't poison.
There's enough for tomorrow too and I think sloppy Joe's sound pretty good.

Thanks. Pretty would love the tuna salad. I can't eat it because of allergies to fish. But that does sound really good!

Thank you. Vidalia onions are my favorite. Sometimes I peel one and eat it like an apple.

Manwich is the tomato paste you add to the cooked meats to make sloppy joes. It's a pre-made paste.

@rakski Manwich is really good. If you can find it there, it's worth trying... Or, I have a big bowl of it ready in the fridge if you want to come have some.

Manwich is pre-made tomato and onion sauce. It makes it easy to make sloppy joe. I just add more onions than most people want in their sandwich.
Thanks... I make sloppy joes once a month or every six weeks.

@Traceyjayne It's not good enough to pay a high price for it but if it's cheap enough to order, you should try it once. It is good.

I did enjoy it, thanks.
Mom started teaching me how to cook when I was 13 and I've kept cooking since then. (I had two wives who didn't know how to cook but I did teach Pretty how to cook. She used to climb up in a chair so she could see what I was doing while I was cooking on the stove. She always wanted to know what I was doing.

@Shivram59 You have to want to learn how to cook. You have your mom and sisters to do the cooking so don't want to learn.

That's learning the skill the easy way. I wonder why and how I couldn't learn the skill. My sister's tried to teach me several times, but they failed in teaching and I in learning.

We had sloppy joes when we donated blood last week. I could make it again because I have everything on hand. I do not put pork in mine, unless I have it on hand. One of the local mom and pop groceries sells a 50/50 pork and beef mix they put together in store.

I also sleep in the afternoon as well. But most of the time now would be earliest evening then wake up almost midnight then sleep again. My breakfast was in a fast food chain.
