I told them their neighbors were going to be annoyed.

My dad told me he woke up yesterday at 6am. I asked why he got up that early (he has problems sleeping). He said he heard Diana (his wife) mowing the lawn. I said, “Diana mowed the lawn at 6am? Your neighbors are going to be so annoyed!” He kind of ceded that to me, but didn’t say much more because Diana was in the room.
Now, I get it. While a lot of you see fall weather, it is routinely hot and humid by 8am (especially the humid part, and I sweat at 8am walking the dog - NO exaggeration) in August here in Oklahoma. But, oh boy. Nobody is going to complain because everyone loves them so much, and I truly believe Diana just wasn’t thinking. She’s such a sweetheart. Hopefully, it was just a momentary lapse in judgment.

I am sure that her heart was in the right place.
Here, someone would be able to contact the city, as there is a by-law in effect prohibiting loud noises from tools and outdoor equipment until after 8am-summer heat or not.
I know that in the wintertime, people are out right before that using their snow blower, not sure if anyone calls them on it though.

I don’t believe we have an ordinance like that, but we may very well. I don’t think she’ll be inclined to do it again though, at my dad’s request. Bless her, she’s sweet, but she just wasn’t thinking.
If we do have an ordinance like that, I want to know. My apartment complex would have broken it literally hundreds of times over the years.

Are there any rules set there about when not to make a noise? (lol)

Here, the police would have come by and told her it's illegal to mow before 8 am and after 9 pm... I hope their neighbors didn't complain.

@AmbiePam I'm glad nobody said anything.
Sometimes the city workers will start earlier than 8 am here but not a lot anybody can do about that. It's usually not too much earlier than that when they woke me up several times this summer digging holes in my yard.

My area doesn't allow loud machinery until 8 AM. The trash truck isn't allowed pick-up before then, either. This is fine with me...most people here are not really loud, but I am not a morning person anyway. I may be awake, but I don't want a bunch of noise until I have had my endless cups of coffee!

I know a few years back, one of the trash trucks hit 2 children walking to school, and the trash truck did not stop at a stop light. The kids ended up being OK, but since school starts at 8 AM, it was decided that trash pickup could not start until that time, along with all the racket they make.

Maybe the neighbors will do it too... makes sense to not overheat yourself.

I see she was trying to get the mowing done while it was still cool outside, I hope no one complained,

Yikes I would hate to be woken up at 6am by a lawn mower. I hate it when our guys start here at 8! But it's understandable that Diana would want to beat the heat and get the lawn done early.

I’m sure you are right….it will be just a one off thing , not a regular thing. She may feel bad when she realises.

That's kinda crazy, but I understand the desire to do it before it gets too hot

I can understand mowing the lawn early in the morning before the humidity comes.
