My kind of entry statement

I was brought up on a farm near Cuballing in Western Australia. We went through there a few weeks ago and I was able to get a photo of their ‘entry statement’. At the other end of town there is a similar horse but landing after he’s jumped the wall. Both statues are made entirely of horse-shoes. I was going to make a collage of the two but at the moment I can’t find my other photo. I’m trying to sort out my photos as I find I’m misplacing more and more.

It's been well done. I hate these types of things if they don't look like a 'real' horse.

@JudyEv I agree, if the sculpture doesn't look like the animal it's supposed to resemble, I don't like them either.

I'm gradually sorting through my photos. I have them in folders but if I take a lot of photos then I often have some where they shouldn't be.

@JudyEv I found one and we hung it on the entrance door for good luck

@allknowing You have to hang it with the open bit up the top so the good luck can't escape.

Yes, they certainly wouldn't be new ones.

It's taken me a few years to be able to get this. It's not easy to pull off the road at this point.

I have seen some town's welcome signs (as we call them here) to be rather unique, but nothing ever quite like this.

Most of our towns seem to have them now. There is an equestrian centre in the town which I guess was the impetus for this.

I thought so too. It's very life-like, unlike some.

Are your photos getting lost in 'the cloud'? I keep getting emails saying my "account" will be emptied unless I pay out... But I remember that other horse.

No, they're not in the cloud but I have filed them somewhere that must have seemed logical at the time but doesn't seem logical now.

@Marilynda1225 Possibly they're painted with something to prevent them rusting.

I wonder where they got all the shoes from? I guess blacksmiths and farriers would end up with quite a few.

I love those statues, and I really want to have a go at making things from scrap metal. I found that I have inherited a spot welder! So I plan to have a go when I get a bit of time.

@JudyEv I know, I keep saying I want to do it - and I've even found a source of bits of metal to practice with! Just lots of jobs are always more urgent, you know how it is. One of these days I will be able to show you something!

Very creative way to make the entry and exit points very artistic and descriptive. I wonder how many horseshoes they have used to create such a sculpture.

Many of our towns now have something each end of the town to welcome people.
