My "short and stocky" sunflower is already fading, but the "tall and skinny" one is now in bloom. It is close to five feet tall, and rises well above my balcony railing. I just watered for this morning. I think I have a couple more sunflowers growing. We shall see what happens. Sunflowers make me happy. But they fade quickly. Do you have a "garden" growing?

I do have a very small garden, my space is limited. Tomatoes, cukes, peppers, carrots, onions...I have some flowers as well. Right now, my zinnias are providing me with lots of color, I love zinnias as the blooms last for a long time. Also, the rabbits don't stop by to eat the zinnias, evidently they just aren't tasty.

Do you have a photo? Do you have to plant zinnias every year?

@TheHorse No photo and not at home right now...zinnias are planted yearly. They are incredibly hardy seed plants, just buy the seeds and plant them in a row or a bunch. They pop up really fast and you have beautiful blooms of all colors in no time flat.

I'm glad you're enjoying your sunflowers. No, I don't have anything growing in my garden anymore.

@TheHorse I used to plant tomatoes in the flowerbed in front of the house and have several pots on the front porch that I grew onions, lettuce, spinach and bell peppers in... I can't always see to go out and water them and Pretty refuses to water plants outside... So I can't grow them.

That is one gorgeous sunflower. Our flower garden is looking very sad. We finally got some rain; so maybe that will help.

Happy sunflowers. I always thought they lasted a long time. At least the giant ones seemed to. Birds like to use them as a buffet.

Wow that is great ! This flower looks so wonderful. Did you treated this one in a special way? More/less watering or applying any fertilizer etc? Have a great day ahead !

That's lovely. But, I just mentioned to another MyLotter how shocked I was this year after I planted sunflowers. For the first time ever, some creature has bitten off the heads of three of my nicely bloomed sunflowers. I'm thinking squirrels are the culprit. Has that ever happened to you when growing sunflowers?

I have sunflowers at home but they are artificial. I do not grow anything. I do have a Christmas cactus though. That’s the only exception.
