Construction Finale

I got a phone call yesterday from the OACAC office letting me know that the construction guys would be here today to install the new storm windows. The guys were supposed to arrive between 9:30 am and 10 am. About 9:45 am, I got another call from their office letting me know the guys were going to be a little late. Nobody could find our new windows.
At 12:15 pm, the guys rolled up in their truck with the new windows. They're working on installing them now.
This should have been the last of the work orders for our house... But, when the guy installed the new bathroom fan/light fixture, it didn't work. (This was around the first of July.) I asked the head construction guy today when somebody would be here to complete the work on that fixture. (He remembers we talked about it but can't remember what happened after he got to their office that day and wrote himself a note and said he'd find out and get back to me.)
I hope that does happen.

Isn't it nice when all involved know what is going on and things go as planned. Yeah, right. 9 times out of 10 something like this happens.
Wrote himself a note, huh? Interesting.
I do hope that at some point it ALL gets done.

Thanks. I think he was being honest with me. He wrote the note on the bill of lading for the windows and he didn't ask me to sign it yet. I did sign off on some of the other work they finished, though. (He said they had to post a notice on the attic door in my bedroom closet before the entire job would be considered finished. He didn't post that notice yet.)

Thanks. It's not the only light in the bathroom but it would be nice to have a light above the tub.
They didn't get finished so will be back tomorrow to finish installing the new windows.
Lower heating and cooling bills sound exciting to us.

No one ever said that construction guys knew how to tell time.
Hope everything is installed and has you ready for the cooler weather.

Thanks... The construction guys have been asking me to sign off on each stage of the work they've finished. They didn't ask me to sign off on the bathroom exhaust fan/light yet or the storm windows. They'll be back tomorrow to finish installing those.
When the guy inspected the house to see what was needed last year, he asked when that bathroom light quit working. We've been here almost 8 years and didn't even know that was a light fixture. When I told him that, he laughed and said they'd get it working for us.

Yay for new windows. I hope they are very careful installing them. And I hope the guy gets back to you about the ceiling fixture that did not work.

Thank you. Since they started later than planned, they didn't get all the new storm windows installed today. I went out and look and the new windows look nice. (They're stacking the old storm windows against the garage and we should be able to call the aluminum buyers tomorrow and see how much they'll give us for the metal or see if they'll buy them to re-sell. If the aluminum people don't want them, then the construction boss said they'd take them to use for somebody else if we donate them.)
I'm hoping he'll see his note on the bill of lading for the storm windows and find out if/when somebody will come and work on the electricity to the new light fixture in the bathroom and let us know when they come back.

Thank you. We're already seeing some good from the work they've been doing. Without the insulation our winter bills dropped just from fixing windows and covering the access hatch under the house.

Thank you. It will be nice having a light over the tub/shower stall.
When we moved into this house, Pretty complained because I put bright bulbs into the vanity in the bathroom. I told her I wanted to see what I was doing in the shower. If that shower light gets fixed, we can put dimmer bulbs in the vanity.

@DaddyEvil Well, at least you have some things offered as an apology about the delays, I think it's a good deal. I am glad your doors look as new now.

Thank you. I agree, the work started late last fall and still isn't quite finished yet. (When the construction boss came the first time, before they started work on the house, he told me that prices had gone up enough that we either couldn't have the two doors replaced or we couldn't have the new storm windows. I chose to let him make repairs on the outside front and back doors and get all new storm windows.)
He HAS included a few small things that the grant didn't pay for and won't let us pay cash for those. He said he'd include those things for free as a "sorry" from their company about the delays we've experienced. That was okay with us.
His repairs on the two doors make them LOOK brand new and they do seem in much better shape now.

Hope the new windows look good and do their job. I'm guessing if they are storm windows they are tougher than normal !

Thank you. Yes, instead of being made of glass, they're made of plexiglass, a hard acrylic that bends instead of breaks most of the time. (When we had that bad hail storm with huge hail, the glass window in our garage door shattered but, so did the plexiglass window in the old storm window in my bedroom. Luckily, even shattered, the plexiglass didn't let the large hail through to the glass window so no shattered glass in my bedroom floor afterwards.)

Thank you. Storm windows are windows on the outside of the regular windows. They give a double protection in case of damaging hail. One window can be broken and there is still another layer of glass between you and the outside world. Storm windows can also be opened along with the regular windows to let in fresh air.
We applied for and got a government grant to pay for a lot of work to be done on our rental house to help decrease our heating bill during the winter and decrease the cooling bill in the summer. We qualified for the grant because I'm disabled and our income is below their cutoff limit.
I wish you qualified for a government grant to do repairs at your house.

It sounds like you’ve had quite the adventure with these work orders! At least the new storm windows finally made it to your house, even if it took a bit of a delay. Hopefully they get that bathroom fan/light sorted soon—it’s frustrating when something is left half-done. Fingers crossed the head guy really does follow up this time so you can finally check everything off your list!

Thank you. I hope everything gets finished soon. We can manage without the bathroom fan/light if we need to. I put strong lights in the vanity in the bathroom and that's what we use in there to light the room up. I'd LIKE a light over the shower/tub but we don't honestly need it.

Having new windows will make it more comfy in the house along with your insulation. I hope they finish up soon.

Thank you. The repairs the construction crew did on our inside windows last fall helped drop our heating bill this last winter from around $150 a month to below $100. That's already a nice savings each month.
I can't wait to see what out bills are this winter and next summer.

Wow, talk about a slow day! At least the windows showed up eventually. Hope they sort that bathroom fan soon, that’s gotta be annoying

I usually sleep during the daytime so it was really difficult for me to wait without falling asleep. When my daughter woke up, I went to bed.
Thanks. I hope so, too.
