Okay, the inspector from OACAC was here this morning and is finished with the inspection... Everything checked out fine except for the two storm windows. The inspector measured those and found them to be 5/16th of an inch too wide for their frames. He called his office and new storm windows have been ordered for those two frames. When they've been manufactured, somebody will come out and install them for us

Hello, first of all, I'm glad the infection went well. On the other hand, I'd like to know what OACAC means?

Hello. Thanks. The acronym stands for Ozark Area Community Action Corporation.

@YuleimaVzla They help low income people with different types of work on their homes. They added insulation to the walls and ceiling in our house, put new storm windows over all the windows outside, rebuilt part of the kitchen floor and put some new lighting fixtures in the house. They did all that work for free.
The inspector today was checking all the work done over the last month on our house to make sure it was all good and we didn't have any complaints.
The work should lower our heating bill during the winter and lower the cooling bill during the summer.

Wow, 5/16” too big huh? Does that fall under “we’re required to find something wrong”? (We had an inspector like that in boot camp: we got a 99.99% rating in our barracks inspection, because he was of the opinion that NOBODY was 100%.
)

@DaddyEvil — ah, okay, so it is an issue and not a cosmetic problem. I misunderstood, sorry. Glad you’re having it fixed!

@FourWalls Yeah, I WISH it was just a cosmetic problem. I'd ignore it and be happy.
No problem at all.

We can't close those two windows. Hanging all my weight on the one in my bedroom won't force it to close.

I am glad they are getting that taken care of. You have to be able to close them.

Thanks. I'm happy with the work they did. I mentioned something the construction crew did for us but weren't supposed to do and the inspector said not to mention that to anyone else.
He said they could all get in trouble for it.

True... I do wish they'd get it all done instead of doing some of it, waiting a few weeks and coming back and doing a little more of it, though.

Good that the inspection is done. And all seems fine other than the storm windows. Hopefully they will be manufactured and installed soon. What is the full form of OACAC?

I hope so, too.
Ozark Area Community Action Corporation. It's a non-profit company that does weatherization for low-income families. They also fund jobs for low income school students. (I worked for OACAC from 13 years old until I graduated from high school. I cleaned the school for 2 hours every day after school let out for the day and then worked 40 hours a week for them cleaning, painting and doing other work for the school system during the summer break.)

@arunima25 You're very welcome. Mom got me hired so I could help pay for things for myself and my younger brother.
I agree, the work is well worth doing for its own sake. That I got paid for doing it was very nice, too.

@DaddyEvil Oh! I see. Thank you for explaining. It's good to know that you worked for organization as a young boy. Those are some noble work that they do.

@LadyDuck You're right, I'm still not happy. They should have been done right the first time.

Thank you. I think the frames for the storm windows is what takes so long. The replacement windows shouldn't take very long at all.

Hopefully, they will be sorted quickly. Are they the two that were left open when installed ?

Thanks. And yes, those two windows. The factory should still have the measurements from the first windows they made for this house. I hope they don't make them the wrong size this time.

In the US, we have regular windows like you have in other countries but then we also have another set of windows that aren't made of glass. Their frames are made of aluminum with plexiglass windows. Those are really tough and don't break very easily. They go on the outside of the house over the regular windows.
We had a really bad hail storm back in January of this year. One of the hail actually broke a plexiglass window in my bedroom but the plexiglass stopped the hail stone from going through my glass window so the cold and wind still couldn't get into the house.
