The Angry Chinese Lady and the Overpriced Motel Room.

It seems I often wind up in line behind someone buying lottery tickets. I wait. I check prices of candy bars. I watch soccer on the TV screen.
By the time I got to West Yellowstone, on the Wyoming/Montana border, it was dark and pouring rain. I was not going to drive the winding road through the Gallatin River Gorge in the dark and driving rain. I get depressed sometimes, but I am not suicidal.
Two people in front of me at the motel was an angry woman shouting at the desk clerk. She had not realized that tax would be charged on her motel bill.
After five minutes, when I heard the clerk say, "There's a less expensive motel down the road. It's only $200 per night," I got out of line and went back to my truck. I thought I would be sleeping there.
As a last gasp, I stopped at another motel. "We don't have any rooms, but you can stay in a room that's like a cabin, with no heat or air conditioning. It's closed down for the Winter." It was 68 degrees F out and still raining. Perfect sleeping weather. "Is there hot water in the shower?" "Yes."
To be continued...I have to get to work...
I asked how much, and she said $100. She repeated that the room was really humble and small. I said I did not mind.
I will attach a photo I took of the room I stayed in. It was an absolute delight!. I culd live there! It actually reminded me of the work I've done on the interior of my Montana cabin.
Are some of those foreign tourists a bit "spoiled"?

$200 is cheap nowadays? I remember thinking $75 was a lot last time we went to McCall.

@TheHorse .......I see. The little resort town here in Idaho that I used to vacation in has become that way too.

I would have taken that deal... 68F is perfect sleeping weather for me under a sheet.
I hope you have a fun afternoon/evening at work, pony.

@TheHorse I would love sleeping in that room! People all over the world can be more than a bit spoiled, in my personal opinion!
I'm glad you enjoyed work.

I probably would have slept in my vehicle at that point. I know hotels now are all way up in rates. Glad you had a place to stay.

@MarieCoyle I felt like Grandpa sleeping in the TV chair. But it worked.

Sometimes, it works. After a hard day of driving for hours, I can usually crash pretty quickly!!

That's a cute room...but no heat or AC? For $100? I'm glad you were happy there.

99% of the time when it's my wife and I, we stay at a La Quinta. The rooms are mostly nice, relatively inexpensive, and of course we are Wyndham Rewards members, so we get points and discounts as well. As for people anywhere, foreign or not, let's just say...
They're neat.
