I have an interesting new student! At least I hope I do.

She is six-years-old. She has big nerdy glasses that make her look like Mr.Peabody, of cartoon fame.
It was ostensibly a "voice" lesson, but I sat her down at the piano. I told her daddy that I used piano to teach "music theory," and that I wanted her, over time, to be able to accompany her singing on piano. Her dad said her mom would be delighted, as she (mom) played piano.
And then I had the little girl sing her favorite song. It was some fancy adult song I had not heard.
It was an "America's Got Talent" kind of moment. She sings confidently, and on key. Her daddy told me that she had been "belting them out" since she was two.
I used the piano to figure out that she was singing in B-flat. Daddy then played the original version on his cellphone. It was in B-flat.
I am pretty "booked up," but I hope they can find a space for this little girl in my schedule.

How wonderful, I didn't know you were a singing or piano teacher, I don't know which one. The truth is that I also sang in university groups and I became very good friends with my singing teacher. He really helped me a lot and we even became friends because he had to go to Spain.

Oh I am sure they will. Don't screw her up. Hey, that is what my leaders always told me. lol Also if you cannot handle it, hand it off to some one who can. I love American leadership.
Meaning she sounds like something people are going to be after. That could be messy or it could be neat and needs to be handled just right.

What a wonderful moment that must have been! A six-year-old with big nerdy glasses and the confidence to belt out a song like that? She's already a star in the making. The fact that she’s singing on key, with such ease, at such a young age, is remarkable. You’ve clearly already tapped into her natural musicality, and that’s something special. The fact that she’s already figured out her key (B-flat!) without even needing the confirmation from the original track is impressive. It sounds like she’s got a deep sense of pitch and a great ear for music, which is incredible for someone so young.

It would be a pleasure to have her in your class. And she needs you to make her shine more. I hope that it works out well for both of you. And you both can make time for each other.

That will be fun for you. I like that you get to combine your love of children and your love of music.
