Update To My Going Nutty Post

My son has helped me every step of my weight loss journey. He set an app up for me last August. I record everything that I eat there or anything with calories. It is set to show me when I reach 1200 calories for the day. It also gives me how many carbs, fats and proteins I need. After stalling for nearly the whole month of August my son suggested that I increase my calories for two weeks, so we set the app for maintenance mode and it told me to increase my calories to 1600. I trust my son and know that he researched the best program for me, but it was super scary eating 400 more calories a day. Within a few days those two pounds that bounced around for nearly a month told me goodbye. We think they were going to drop anyways. It was just coincidence. So as of this morning I have been back to 1200 calories for a week and during the month of September lost an additional 5 pounds. It has been almost 13 months since I started this journey. I am down 31 pounds. I still have a ways to go. I hit a few detours during the 13 months, but should arrive to my destination before New Year’s. I definitely do not lose as fast as I once did. I wish any of you who are on a weight loss journey much success.

I lost a lot of weight several years ago by simply counting calories. I have been doing it for so long now that I automatically just count them in my head every day for the most part. I have tried many diets over the years. My doctor recommended I simply count calories, and he was right--it works! I have not regained any of the weight, and I hope I never do! Good for you and for your son, for sticking to it and finding out what works for you, Marie.

@Tampa_girl7 Honestly, this is the only weight loss plan that’s ever worked for me. Previously, I would lose weight and then gain it back, but now I don’t.

Congratulations on your journey. You are doing great. I am staying about the same, but plan to order a weight loss med..in Oct. I think. I am gratified that one of pairs of sweat pants are currently falling down when I wear them. I may have lost a little, but I need a boost. What app is it out of curiousity? I like it notifying you once you have reached your calories for the day.

It doesn’t send a notice, but when I go into it I can see what I have ate calorie wise. It is called MacroFactor. I myself would not have paid for an app. My son got it for me, but it definitely works. I’m sure there are free ones too.

@Tampa_girl7 I use the WW points app..but it is hard to stick to those points for sure. I am not usually successful. I just do the best I can.

I hope you'll achieve your goal before New Years, as for me, I gave up trying to lose but I'm glad I haven't gained.

Best of luck to gaining your ideal weight, When I hit 60 and realized I would never be really thin again but was not really fat I just said I am going to enjoy life, I have no health concerns, and food is to be enjoyed, So now I am a happy slightly rounded individual,

I've never actually tried to seriously lose a substantial amount of weight. It sounds as though you are doing really well. If you get the opportunity I suggest taking up some sort of strength training, it may not help with weight loss per se (although it might), but it should help to improve muscle tone and protect against balance problems and issues like osteoporosis.
