Yum, I just finished some Dave's Killer Bread for breakfast. I have been wanting to get my hands on some of this for years. My obsession with tasting this bread began many years ago when my parents went to visit my Aunt and Uncle in Oregon. They served it to them, and said it was excellent. It eventually made its way East, but I would never buy it, because it is 5 or 6 dollars a loaf in the store. Anyway, I finally found it for 2 bucks in a bakery thrift shop. What a surprise! Anyway, it is really good. Still don't think I would buy it for 5 dollars...that is for special bakery breads..not a commercially packaged loaf. DKB is just a really good tasting brown bread with grains in. Unfortunately, it also seems to have a lot of sugar or honey in it as well...as you can taste it...whatever, it is a good bread! Have your been obsessed with trying something ever?

We used to buy a Milton's Bread at Sam's that was great but it disappeared. I would try DKB because I like bread. Yeah, it costs a lot, even on sale.

I was really happy and surprised to find it for two bucks. They may not have it again. I will look next time while in the area. It made a nice breakfast with a bit of butter.

@MarieCoyle I don't think they ever sold Milton here. We have Arnolds.

We absolutely loved Milton’s bread. It disappeared, like you I don’t think they make it anymore.

If I'm just wanting to try a specialty bread, I'd just pay the high price and try it. We pay over $5 for the potato bread I love. We buy a loaf of it every two weeks. Sometimes Pretty takes a few slices and laughs when I grumble about sharing it.

Ser that to me is just too much for a commercial bread like that. They will continue to inflate the prices tio as long as people are willing to pay it.

@snowy22315 You don't have to buy it. Soon ANY bread is going to cost that much if not more.

I try things that pique my interest, but when and if I can I try to make them.
that is actually not alot to pay for bread, here anyways.
I pay that for a small loaf of freshly baked whole wheat bread, but our COLA is much higher than yours is due to the difference in population.
There is a cool breeze here this morning, and it already has me thinking of baking something with pumpkin later today or tomorrow.

That sounds like a winner. I bought a can of pumpkin yesterday. I will probably make pumpkin fluff with it, but I will also need another can at some point because I want to make a 2 ingredient spice cake using canned pumpkin.

@snowy22315 I always have a large can of pumpkin on hand in the pantry.
I get 'cravings' for pumpkin when the cans are either not easy to find or are at a high cost.
They usually go on sale in late October, after Thanksgiving, and I pick up an extra can to have on hand.
I am going to see if I can find a recipe for a soft cringle type of cookie with pumpkin.

@Juliaacv That would be good. I bought some pumpkin spice the other day. I like to make these 35 calorie cookies that take pumpkin spice

Glad you enjoyed it sounds good, I always get tempted by many things when I order my groceries and then have to stop myself because I am on a strict budget,

I don't watch my food budget too much until maybe the week before payday.

I used to eat 12-grain bread all the time; but it was pretty dry. Now I have to move from white bread back to a wheat bread.

DKB is good if you feel like paying the hefty price tag.

@snowy22315 Now I read that I need to eat white bread and shouldn't have any whole grain bread. Sigh.

That's crazy. Some places here are selling half loaves now, but that is OK with me. I have trouble finishing a whole loaf of bread.

Yeah, me too. Great find. Now that I've had it, my obsession has lessened. I will still buy it if U find it on sale again somewhere.

I have some fiends that enjoy Daves Killer Bread but I won't pay that much for a loaf of bread. Some day I might try it but not anytime soon. Glad you found it at a bargain price and enjoyed.
Can't think of anything offhand that I've been obsessed with trying.

I just won't pay that much for a mass produced bread.
