Who watches your pets, or used to, when you go away?

My best friend, Naomi, came over last night to drop off the dog and talk. She sent me a picture of Sadie tolerating Paploo (the small dog in the back of the picture) and Frosty (the big dog) on the bed she settled in. Sadie behaves because my best friend has big dogs and she doesn’t want to tick them off, but she has no patience for other animals. Otherwise, I’d have another dog in addition to her.
I knew they were here because I heard “snuffling” and whining at my front door. It was so good to see her (dog and and friend)!
Who did or does watch your fur babies when you are gone?

We used to take Nayla to be boarded when we went away.
Our son's dog, Ellie, has been staying at his MIL's place because of her declining health.
She is out of the country right now, so she is at home with the family.
Sadie looks like a perfect guest sitting so nicely with the other dogs.

@AmbiePam It has been a very expensive and heart wrenching year for everyone.
They have had her to the vet, she's had tests and surgeries.
They love her, and they feel that the girls seeing her getting sick so much when she has her bad days, is too much for their little hearts to handle, so they have her farmed out at his MIL's place.
I hope that one day she will quietly pass while napping, before she is pain ridden.

That's such a cute picture
Sadie looks comfy
Actually I'm the designated dog watcher as my daughter is the one who goes away either overnight or for vacation.

What a cute picture. When we had fur babies we used to take them to a kennel. We had one horrible experience. When we came home our Elkhound was horribly sick. We had to rush him to the Emergency Vet. Fortunately he survived; but we gave the kennel a piece of our mind. He should have been taken to a vet...they probably didn't want to bear the expense.

If it is only one or two nights the cats can stay alone. We plan to take them with us on long trips.

When I lived in CA, I boarded my two kitties at a very good animal hospital. They were so spoiled there and I knew if my one kitty who had issues often, she was at the right place. Once I moved to OR, my daughter and an older granddaughter helped. One passed away at age 13 a few years ago. When I came to Washington, I was in my travel trailer and my last kitty traveled with me. Didn't leave her with anyone. She passed last Oct. 3rd at age 15 1/2. I won't be getting more animals. I'll love others and help watch them if needed.

That did not apply to me when I came to Florida because I was always home. When I lived in Latvia, if Martin and I traveled anywhere, the keys went to his mom while she was alive. She lived on the next road,
