Another long day. I even made the local news.

And it feels good to be home again. Son had 2 appointments, a medical test, etc...and of course none of it in the same medical complex. It doesn't work that way, it seems. We are having a lot of city roadwork; besides I-57 being worked on. So there are often delays, etc. to contend with. The main street that runs the length of the city has been mostly repaved, but not all painted yet with the turning lanes, etc. Just the little white marks, and many places are blocked still with orange construction cones. Fine...I plan ahead and I do have patience. Unfortunately, there are people that seem to think it's their right and privilege to blaze their own trail around some of the construction, and when that happens it often doesn't end well. One particular intersection is always wildly busy, and it had cones out that blocked two lanes from all traffic. It was bumper to bumper...the guy behind me (I couldn't move, it was not possible) decided he would just drive in the closed lane next to us, so he darted out there and plowed his way...but there was a big set of cones, etc. and then he wanted to move back over--in front of ME. Umm. NO. Usually, I will always let someone up ahead of me if necessary. But he was yelling at everyone out his window, etc. and not being reasonable. He got so close to me I had to get way, way over and grazed the curb(wasn't going fast, like I said, it was bumper to bumper). Everyone was honking at him, and no one would let him up. Finally, I got to turn and got out of that mess, very thankful not to have been hit by that idiot! Made it home...flipped on the local news to see what was happening. The first thing I saw--that same intersection, with that guy trying to basically hit my car, and the cars behind me, to get back in the lane he left. I saw my car and that was my license plates, so I knew it was me...I realize most people have been on TV a time or two, I know I have for work, etc. I was just surprised because it was me, I guess. I'm not famous yet...my public isn't coming over to call, so my TV appearance didn't do anything to gain fame for me. Maybe next time! iStock picture

I hope the cops get him in some way, I hate those kinds of drivers. Maybe they'll confine him to roller skates.

That corner is right next to our television station. They have cameras on their roof, etc to help with weather conditions and such. Evidently they were the ones who saw it on a camera and slapped it in the news. And the problem driver? His license plate was clearly visible as well, I have to wonder if he could be getting a visit from the police. Time will tell! He would probably be as bad on roller skates as he is driving a car!!

@rebelann That would be nice to see. Or maybe a night or two in the local lock-up would take the steam out of his sails.

My son was with me. He was not impressed by this insane fellow. Other drivers were inching away from him as best they could. I wanted to call him a name that was way worse than a yahoo!

Are they really doing construction or just moving the barrels and closing a different lane every six months? Glad you’re okay…can I have your autograph?!

Haha, yes, they really are doing construction. They save the moving of the barrels and closing different lanes for funsies for the interstates! I was heading for University Ave. downtown to go to the hospital complex...it's just tons of fun! This last weekend was U of I homecoming. The streets were so snarled with traffic and people, I stayed away from that area. Yes, you can have my autograph!

Well done not to let that Jerk come back. I hate those who try to play that game. You are not famous, but you have been on TV! I hope that the cops get that jerk now.

One good way to make the news is to be involved in an incident that nearly caused a major accident on a freeway.

That's funny..Guess you got your 5 minutes.. The two times I got on the news as an adult I didn't get to see myself because they didn't show the clip on CNN, but I walked in the background shot of a CNN reporter as she was live at an Obama rally, and also I had a tornado here once and got on two seperate news broadcasts, but since I didn't have power I never got to see the news.

I have been on TV before, but it's been years. Once was after Katrina, when I was part of a mass rescue effort to rescue pets from the storm, and it went on for months...back and forth, coordinating the animals to come north by organizing people along the way to each drive the animals a certain distance to meet someone else, who in turn did the same, until the load they carried reached the destination. All of the area in the south that was hit so hard had completely full shelters, or the shelters in some case were flooded or destroyed. What a time that was...and then luckily after some months, many of the pets were able to go back to their owners after the owners had relocated and were able to take them. Lots and lots of road work, kitties and dogs and tropical birds, etc. I drew the line at snakes, I left them to someone else to drive those.

Me, too. I honestly feel safer out on one of the interstates or state highways than I do when people act like this in the cities. Acting as he did solves nothing. What an idiot, I hope he doesn't hurt anyone.
