10/8/25 - Meals

Had my CT scan yesterday. Just as I figured. I have kidney stones in both kidneys. My PCP has referred me to a urologist. This is getting ridiculous. I already have an appointment with a nephrologist. I have doctor/dentist appointments every week. Cousin #3 couldn't make it last night. She will be coming tonight (10/9). Gold reached $4,000.00 per troy ounce. It was around $600 in 1980. It will be close to freezing tonight. That should get the color going on the trees. Breakfast - Protein bar Lunch - Meals on Wheels - Hot dog, baked beans, apple juice, Mandarin oranges, 70% dark chocolate (I hope this helps my blood sugar count) Dessert/Snack - Lemon blueberry muffin Dinner - Turkey/vegan cheese sandwich, veggie straws, non-dairy yogurt What did you eat yesterday? I'm sorry about your health issues. How was the vegan cheese for taste? I heated up some Amy's enchiladas for supper then pleased hubby by including canned spinach. I am not a fan of canned spinach but it eats.

I prefer frozen spinach, or cook my own from raw.

@GardenGerty I'm with you on how to deal with spinach. Hubby likes the canned so we eat it every so often. To me, it resembles green glop on the plate.

The vegan cheese is quite good. I think it would make a good grilled cheese.

As long as I don't pass one, I'm OK. Passed one a few years ago.

I had beans with a tiny piece of ham, mozzarella sticks, and an apple. Please take care of yourself. I hope the doctors can help you feel so much better.

It will be up to me to take all the offensive foods out of my diet....there are a ton of things I shouldn't eat and, of course, they are all the really good things!!!

Great that gold is much higher, but of course, the one thing people fail to understand about gold is that it only grows in value, but it does not compound, meaning for most investors, had they simply invested $600 into the S&P 500 instead of gold in 1980, that $600 would now be worth $106,000. With that in mind the current value of gold is not that impressive. Heck, if Amazon never split its shares, one share would be worth $54,000. So, for all the "safety" of precious metals, it is clear where the money is. For dinner we got rid of some leftovers. I had a brat and a half and some spaghetti with meatballs.

I have some gold jewelry that is worth much more than I paid for it. But I'm not interested in selling.

@porwest I get it. My hubby used to buy gold jewelry when it was $600 per troy ounce. Unfortunately a lot of it turned out to be stolen; and he had to hand it over to the police.

@LindaOHio Right. But the point remains, it hasn't grown much in terms of intrinsic value. Side by side, the gold investor lost $102,000 worth of potential value.

That sounds painful, sorry to hear that. Sorry about more appointments too. That's a good price for gold...now if only we had some lol. A hot dog sounds good. I had ramen for one meal yesterday and chicken with a side of BBQ mac n cheese for the other. Of course a few snacks/treats in there too that I shouldn't have. Not that I should have ramen or mac n cheese either.

No pain from the stones unless I try to pass another one. Did that a few years ago. All of the really good things are things we both shouldn't eat!!!

@MommyOfEli2013 The biggest thing I miss is cheese. The vegan cheese is good; but I want a pizza with mozzarella and salty chicken sausage with nitrites and nitrates...all things I can't have.

Last night for supper we had cream cheese wontons, pork egg rolls, and a vegetable blend. All of it was very good. Bob has both a urologist and a nephrologist. My sister had stones and I think they took care of them with sound waves. Again, a urologist treated that. I have a hard time figuring out where one specialist's job ends and another begins, especially with urologist and nephrologist.

I LOVE Chinese food. I'm not supposed to have it anymore. My stones are OK just as long as my body doesn't try to pass one as it did several years ago.

@LindaOHio Plain water would probably be the best,,if your kidneys aren't healthy even plain Gatorade might not be the best.

I’m sorry you have kidney stones. Hope they can “ping” them before they decide to move on you and inflict pain. I had the usual for lunch, infamous potato soup (with rice and cheese) for dinner. Applesauce, yogurt, fiber!
