I Have a Question.......

I am reading where demolition has started on the East Wing of the White House to begin Trump's ballroom. I am appalled, bewildered, mystified and PISSEDOFF! It seems so ludicrous to me for him to be making a show room out of the White House. There are certain parts of it, if not all, that are traditionally a show case for history and democracy. Is it a place for him to make a discotheque out of or a place for a little more class to be shown? Aren't there organizations, clubs, etc. that want the White House to remain as it has been for many decades? Or is that old fashioned? Isn't it rather asinine for Trump to come in and make over the place with his gaudy gold statues and now this ballroom? Or am I just an old traditionalist that doesn't like to see change? Maybe I see Trumps idea of fashion and decor as gaudy, over the norm, and just too obnoxious for words. Does the White House need a makeover? Is this making anyone else even a bit disgusted? Or do I just feel extra old and traditional? Help!

I don't understand it, either. Where is Congress???? People are going hungry and losing their healthcare and this wacky crud is going on. Sense of historical building?? Not here.

These were my same thoughts. Food cards, SNAP, are not going to be good in November. WIC aid to little children and babies is dried up. So don't feed the kids or babies or families that need it, but hey, by all means lets have a ballroom and make the White House look tacky with all of that gold filigree he has put in the oval office. Very poor taste...very poor.

I dont think its wise to make such drastic changes on such a building. Its more meaningful when it is in its original form only renovated when necessary.

Exactly. It's only his residence while he's in office. It's like someone renovating a rental.

White House is not any personal property to be changed and renovated at some personal wish of any president. There must be rules and laws involved and some responsible bodies involved to take such decisions. He is cutting down on important things like Healthcare and putting money on all this that might be unnecessary.

@arunima25 Trump has slapped away the huge protests as if they didn't matter. This is how sure he is of his power. Power beyond President more like Pharaoh.

You are rightly disturbed. Not extra old and traditional. I feel like we are loosing the historicity of the white house and trading it for gaudy cheapness.

Any other president congress would have stopped a long time ago. I think things like that and paving the rose garden should have been decided by the people.

Yeah, it's not like it's all his property to with what he wishs.

I really didn't think that any president would be able to demolish any part of the White House and that it's mostly a museum except for the living quarters. Everything he's done has surprised me and I can't believe that he's allowed to do it.
