I have tomatoes!

I have one tomato plant growing in my garden and now it has three little tomatoes on it and more flowers. We’re going away tomorrow for about a week but my friend will keep an eye on it for me. I wonder if they'll ripen before we get home. I doubt it. It should get watered automatically but sometimes the system goes haywire so it’s good to have someone checking on it from time to time. We’re heading south to Gnowangerup then a bit further south-er (is that a word?) to a music festival held on a farm somewhere. We’ll be free-camping for three days so will have to be sparing with our water usage as you can’t fill up with water there.

I have 3 little green tomatoes on the vine. I don't think they have frozen, but they are too little to take inside and grow them unless I just take the whole vine in..

@sallypup Yeah, possibly but they are the size of a pea.. I don't think they would grow bigger inside unless I brought the whole vine in.

@snowy22315 I have a few mini tomatoes that I should go grab. Even pea sized home tomatoes add a lot of flavor to something like scrambled eggs.

How exciting! I love fresh tomatoes. They are nothing like from the store. I was trying to pronounce Gnowangerup.

Try 'no-ANGer-up'. It's named after the aboriginal word fo 'mallee fowl' which was once common in the area. There is a facility there that tells all about it. I doubt they'd have live ones. Here's one we saw on the road down that way. Here is a photo of a stuffed one.

@JudyEv Thank you! This was fun to learn. In no way was I even close to pronouncing that.

Hopefully that plant will offer up a nice yield. Nothing like fresh garden tomatoes.

Your tomatoes look healthy. I also had problems with my automatic watering system. I always asked my neighbor to check and water my plants when we were not at home.

@JudyEv - I tried but finally I noticed no difference planting the same crop in the same place every year.

I think the most worrying thing is the need to ration water. That would always be a worry for me, but at least your tomatoes will be doing alright!

excellent share judy. In calcutta tomatoes are red in colour. The farm produce looks very fresh

I picked all of my green tomatoes this past week, before the first killing frost. Some were green, some were half ripe. I brought them inside to ripen--not as good as sun ripened, but we haven't really had much sun, and the vines froze. I pulled them up. I will miss the fresh tomatoes, they are one of my very favorite foods.
