Pie for Breakfast

Well, I did it.
I made it into the clinical study. Yesterday was the appointment to start the medication. After more blood work, measurements and an EKG.It was a fasting appointment, and it was a work day for me.
My appointment was at 1:00 pm. So that meant I could eat up until 5:00 a.m. I ate a peanut butter sandwich and a banana at 4:30, with a cup of coffee.
By the time the appointment was over it was almost 5 p.m. We went right across the parking lot to the Village Inn again. Wednesday is free pie (with a meal) day. We had some of the early bird specials, and got our pie to go. We were too full from our meals.
So I got up this morning, made a cup of hot coffee and enjoyed my caramel pecan silk pie. Delicious. Very filling.
Being a "good girl" I have decided that in an hour or so I will also have a small piece of breakfast casserole, for staying power. It has eggs, cheese, hash browns, mushrooms, peppers and onions. I will likely eat a small, late lunch.
Pie for breakfast is something we do the day after Thanksgiving, usually. How about you?

Same... We usually only eat pie around Thanksgiving and Christmas. I prefer cakes to pies but love pecan pie.
I hope you do well on the study.

There are four "arms" to the study. One being the placebo. That is the only one I want to not get. I want some help with my weight and glucose. Of course, as the doctor said, the weight and diet counseling will be beneficial regardless.

@GardenGerty "Counseling" never helped me. I hope something in the study does help you.

If you go out that saves a lot of work and you still get pie.

@GardenGerty Absolutely! Pretty sure we are going out but might to my ex daughter-in-law's. She lives in town and she and her husband wants us to come there. My son is on the fence. He isn't fond of turkey and that is what she is cooking.

Home made you can control the sugar and there are some good low sugar ones available. Living alone, I would not buy a whole pie. Even with Bob and me both, a whole pie takes forever to get through. This study is for a new class of injectable medication for diabetes and weight loss.

I think pie is a good choice for breakfast. So is sushi. The breakfast casserole sure sounds good. I am hungry and lunch will be ready soon. Pumpkin pie is great for any meal I think.

I hope I do not get the placebo in the trial. Breakfast casseroles are a really convenient way to eat well in the morning.

Is that the same as custard? I would think so and it is very good.

I don't eat pie because I like being 60 pounds lighter than I was when I did eat pie. However, having said that, the great thing about being an adult is that you CAN eat pie for breakfast and nobody is going to say a thing about it!!!!

We do not eat pie often. I am too cheap and lazy. This one was free. Having only one slice available controls the splurge.

It was, but I probably should have made it into two servings.

I eat anything that is available if I want breakfast unless I am making eggs.

That pie sounds scrumptious. I always love having leftover pie from Thanksgiving along with all the other stuff. Sometimes everything tastes better the day after.

It is so good the second day and a reward for your labors in cooking it.

I haven't had any pie in the house since my hubby went into the hospital. And no coffee either. I used to love something sweet with a cup of coffee in the morning.

Is it just a slice of pie that is free with a meal or is it an entire pie? The pie you chose sounds delicious!

A pie is a dish that usually has one or even two crusts. It can be filled with fruit, or custard, or even meat and vegetables. Some have only a top or bottom crust, others have a bottom crust and lattice crust top or even two whole crusts top and bottom. The one I was discussing has a bottom crust and a creamy filling topped with whipped cream and nuts. I tried to post an image and it caused an error.
