Behind the lady having some kind of incident.

I have been told I have the patience of a saint. But this morning my patience was tested. I had two items at Safeway, a bottle of wine and a dozen eggs. The lady in front of me (in line) was having some kind of "incident." It involved a Target card (what does Target have to do with Safeway?) and maybe four items. Was she trying to get some kind of discount? Perhaps 20 cents? Or maybe even 50? I have no idea. After about three minutes, I started to grow restless. I left my items on the "belt" and went and grabbed a sharp cheddar cheese ball. I love those things. When I got back, the "incident" was still happening. I actually got so enraged, I glanced over my shoulder, as if to say "Can't you open up another line?" Shortly thereafter, a man came up behind me with lots of items. We stood there for a few more minutes. Finally, the Target lady left, and I was able to buy my three items. Is patience a virtue you possess?

Patience is not a virtue I possess and sadly now I need a lot, really a lot, of patience with my husband.

@TheHorse - My husband always had a "bad temper", but I have the habit. Now with senile dementia he is testing my patience A LOT.

I was pretty patient with Ms Horse before that surprise projectile elephant birth "took her out" at the Oakland Zoo. That's my story and I am sticking to it.

I remember a doctor I saw once had a plaque on his wall that I found rather funny. It said, "Patience is not so much a virtue as a means to pay for my Lamborghini."

I want to say, yes. But, I often feel like I'd be lying. Overall I'm generally patient, but like anyone... limits exist and if I'm pushed past mine all hell breaks lose.

@TheHorse The fact I have no desire to go to jail, keeps me from doing that. But, you'll be sure that, those responsible find out how I feel. Depending on how far I'm pushed, is how clean it is.

I could use more! I learned I needed more when caring for my mom with ALZ. It really takes a toll on you! But yes, patience is a very nice virtue! I would have gone to another aisle or left.

@porwest I can relate to that very much. You just do the best you can and go with the flow.

A senior thumbling for change at the supermarket checkout is the same as a senior thumbling with a bank card

I don't have patience and that would have irritated me as well. Sometimes, I can be in a line if something doesn't ring up right. My biggest pet peeve is women who wait until the very last item, and then begin digging in their purse to find a check book and proceed to write (slowly), out a check that has to be verified and authorized.

Most people here pay with credit cards. But some of these seniors are obsessed with their coupons, and don't really know how to use them.

@TheHorse I just moved from a coastal town that is a high population of over 65. Many still write checks.

What I hate is …… When there is a person in front of you in the queue with a couple of items …..you stand and wait ….then a partner appears with a full trolley load and promptly joins them in the queue …in front of you ! When a person lets a whole months shopping go through the till THEN they start to pack ….im like “ it’s ok love, I haven’t got a life or anything else to do for the next couple of hours !”

I have seen a few who have tons of questions right in front of us and they test everyone's patience who are behind in the line. As for myself, I am ever aware of those in line behind me and try to make a quick exit, of course after making the payment!

People like this woman irk me to no end, and I have to say, I have very little patience for this sort of thing. Beyond that, where the hell was the manager to see a line was being held up to open another one? Unforgivable stuff, really.

@TheHorse Some days I envision myself with a taser and deploying it. Unfortunately, it's all just fantasy. But it does offer me a mere moment of pleasure envisioning an annoying person flickering before me in the throes of an electrifying experience. In my imagination, the person hits the ground and the cashier shouts out, "Next!"
