Nature is Cool

Nature never ceases to amaze me. And the beauty of it is all around us, if we just take the time to look. And in my case, it was a matter of looking up. I saw this beauty of a cloud driving to work the other morning. I call it a rainbow cloud. I don't see them often, but they sure are beautiful when they make an appearance. I'm glad I saw this one on the morning I did. My day was off to a grumpy and tired start, but seeing this cloud invigorated me, and it completely changed my mood. I ended up having a great day. I guess it's all in our perspective, and sometimes it takes one glance at the beauty of nature to change our perspective and our mood. Isn't nature cool? And speaking of cool, it looks like Florida is in for its first freeze of the year on Monday. Although I love cold weather, it's way too early in the season to be having freezes in the Sunshine State! Have you seen anything cool in nature lately?

@moffittjc I noticed, about one hour ago, here I could see some pink clouds at dusk, but there were also very dark menacing clouds.

@LadyDuck I think that dark, menacing clouds sometimes give us the prettiest views.

It is very beautiful, but unfortunately below it were some pretty ominous storm clouds.

I agree Nature is cool. I have a Japanese Maple tree in the front yard that is always fascinating to watch the leaves change colors during this time of year. We here in Georgia are under that same weather pattern where it will be in the 20s for a low on Monday.

I had a Japanese maple tree at the last house I lived in. I loved that tree, it was so beautiful. It was knocked over in the three hurricanes that hit us back in 2004. I hope you will stay warm when this frigid blast hits us. I was sort of looking forward to the cold weather, but I woke up sick this morning (hopefully just a bad head cold), so now I am not looking forward to the cold weather at all.

Saturday night, Sunday morning we're supposed to get snow in my part of Missouri. We rarely go outside anymore or drive anywhere so I have little or no chance of seeing anything except out our kitchen window. I did watch squirrels and rabbits playing in the back yard a few days ago and called for Pretty to come watch them with me. She wasn't interested... *shrug*

We have 8-10 squirrels that live in the trees in my back yard, and you wouldn't believe how many times I just sit on my back patio and just watch them play. I hope you don't get too much snow!

@moffittjc The landlady sent a crew over to cut all the walnut trees down last summer. The only nut trees we still have are oaks/acorns. There are half a dozen squirrels living around here. They won't stick around if we're outside but we can watch them through the kitchen window. It's rare when the squirrels and rabbits seem to be playing tag or chase or whatever they were doing but I love watching them do it anyway.

When you were a kid, did you ever lay on the grass outside and just stare up at the clouds as they whisked by and imagined that they were in the shapes of different things? I used to do that as a kid. I think we should do that as adults as well, it can be very therapeutic.

That's a cool cloud. I'm glad it changed your day. We will be getting s**w Monday and Tuesday. Bummer. Other than the leaves changing, I haven't seen anything really cool lately.

No snow for us, but we will be getting below freezing for 2 days. And then I'm sure we'll be back up in the 90s a day or two after that. lol

Speak for yourself about cold weather, bud. I want nothing to do with it. lol. But I have to admit, that is an amazing looking cloud. I don't think I have ever seen anything like that, in person or in pictures. Perfect capture.

It's rare that I see clouds like this, but I have seen a few over the years. And I was lucky I was able to get such a good shot of it, as I took the picture when I was driving (shhh...don't tell the authorities). I am finding that I like cold weather less and less each year, probably because I'm getting older. But when you live in a climate where most of the year it's hotter than the surface of the sun and your skin melts as soon as you step outside, you welcome any and all cold weather that comes your way.

@moffittjc Hell, you were double lucky, considering pictures are broken and you still got yours to get pushed through. As for the cold, I am the same. I just can't take it anymore. I get cold to the core. It just irks me to no end.

There's something wrong with the site that is making it difficult to load photos. It took me 4-5 tries to get the photo to load. I basically had to resize it over and over again until I got it small enough to load.

@JudyEv Recently, I've had to size all my photos down to KB's just to get them to load. I've never had to reduce the size that much before.

@lovebuglena No, they were off in the distance, so the rain never hit us. But you could tell they were ominous and I also could faintly hear the rumble of thunder a few times.

We take nature for granted and overlook the wonder and beauty in it. It can be invigorating like in this lovely image. It changes all the time and no dull moment if we appreciate the blessings we are given.

@Shiva49 So many people nowadays don't know the words of the great nature poets. We need a new, fresh generation of poets to inspire people to enjoy nature more.

I agree. We have become so busy in our lives that we forget to stop and look around us at the natural beauty of the world. Such beauty is not only invigorating, but therapeutic as well. Seeing the beauty of nature reminds me that there is something bigger out there than just my day to day life and problems.

@moffittjc I recall great nature poets, William Wordsworth, John Keats, and Robert Frost. We are richer for their inspiring poems about nature. Age is no bar to wonder at nature and its workings!

Nature is very therapeutic. I do the same thing as you. If I'm having a bad day, or if I'm stressed or worried or sad about something, I will often go for a walk in a park or in a forest. It always makes me feel better.
