Time To Start Thinking About The Holidays

Happy Friday Everyone! it's sort of sunny here this morning. The sun was bright earlier and it looked like a nice day ahead but now clouds have appeared, the sun hides for awhile and I guess we'll get the rain they predicted. At least its not supposed to rain until this evening and by then it will probably be dark and it won't matter I'm all for overnight rain and sunny days . I'm finally having a minute to chat here while I have my coffee and breakfast. I got caught up doing stuff online. Started off by paying bills and then once the laptop was open I started browsing for Christmas ideas. Saw a few things that caught my attention but the hardest to buy for is my Aunt & Uncle who are in their 90s. Every year I send them some sort of gift basket and I try not to repeat what I send year after year. I probably put more pressure on myself about what to send because they are always happy with the gift basket that arrives. I know my Aunt is tired of cooking so I was thinking of asking my cousin about a local restaurant that she enjoys and maybe getting them a gift certificate. At her age I'm sure she's tired of cooking as I'm way younger than her and I'm tired of it too I'm really not ready to start thinking about the holidays let alone decorate. I got a text from my middle daughter the day after Halloween to say she put up her Christmas tree. I just shake my head and wonder if she was switched at birth Meanwhile today is just the usual routine day. I started a new book AsK For Andrea by Noelle Hill. It's a psychological thriller and it grabbed me right from chapter one. I definitely will find time this afternoon to read. That's what's happening here. What do you have planned for the weekend? Anything fun??

Your Aunt and Uncle would probably get more out of a visit from family rather than anything you might buy for them. Maybe bring along some flowers for them. My buds and I prefer to give our time to one another because we really don't need anything anyone could buy us. We all have so much junk laying around that most of us are packing it all up to give to some charity, mine is the center for battered women & children.

Mom could relate to that, her folks were over 2000 miles from El Paso and back in the 1960s it was difficult and overly expensive to try to get there to visit

Yes they would love a visit but unfortunately we don't live anywhere near each other. They are in Massachusetts and I'm in Pennsylvania. Hopefully one day we'll be able to arrange a visit but not for Christmas.

Nothing planned here. I used to send gift baskets or gift certificates to friends for Christmas but haven't done that in years. When I was earning the money, Pretty would complain about the expense but I'd do it anyway. Now that she's earning the money, I rarely buy anything...

@Marilynda1225 The only older relatives I have now are two brothers and a sister... I only talk with one of the brothers and I see him/talk with him often.

@DaddyEvil aside grom my kids and grandkids I have lots of cousins but none of us live anywhere near each other. We're scattered around the US but we keep in touch via Facebook and text/phone calls.

At their ages either restaurant gift certificates or things like fuzzy socks would be good. Could you possibly crochet something that would be special

I would love to crochet something but my aunt is an avid crocheter herself. She has a huge family (4 kids all married with families of their own) They all live near each other so her life is pretty busy. I like the idea of a restaurant gift certificate especially since she mentioned on her birthday how nice it was to go out to eat.

I think we'll enjoy the warmth this weekend before the next cold front hits.

We have fairly decent temperatures here until Monday when it will feel like winter. Certainly not looking forward to the cold and hope it's only a tease.

The book sounds interesting. As far as holiday gift giving I think it's nice you try to get something each would enjoy. I think the older we get the more we enjoy just being remembered. It doesn't really matter what the gift might be. Nothing fun planned here. Just always looking for something fun to talk to my kids about. My grandson and I have some good conversations that I always enjoy.

Our weekend will just be more of the usual. Running a few errands. I might mulch the leaves again as it looks as though I haven't even touched it again. As for the holidays, we will be having Thanksgiving on the 29th at my sister's place, and I still haven't decided what I will make when we host for Christmas.

today is saturday, i was planning to sleep more but my body doesnt allow me to just lay in bed so when i woke up at 6:30am i do the laundry and take a bath. after that i ate my breakfast( coffee and my favorite bread) while scrolling here in mylot. at 9am i will go to our office to cook for lunch. I'm planning to stay there until late night. I just love to stay in our office because no is around. maybe i'll finish my tasking or just watch netflix. i dont have any plan in going out since last night i already go to the mall to buy groceries and bought a new dress that is on sale.
