Mind you, I am not complaining, but I will say that all week I was praying that my SS would arrive at the usual time and everything would go well. Yesterday I was checking to see about some other money that should have been added to my account, and boy, was I surprised—there was my SS on a Friday. Quickly I ordered and got to the point when on my PC I could track the driver. Suddenly my anxiety level rises as I see that my order is delayed. I keep looking at that little car on the map, and it keeps moving. Thank heavens, and I thanked the Lord that the order arrived. I could not ask the driver what that was about, and luckily he delivered everything with no problems because the only thing he could say to me was "no speak English."

My drivers usually don’t understand English either, but that’s never bothered me since the one time I had to communicate face to face with a driver he spoke clear English. He was actually a jolly fellow, come to think of it. You don’t get a lot of people who like their jobs.

I'm glad the delivery worked out after all that! I know a bit of Spanish, so I love to have the opportunity to speak with my broken Spanish. Spanish speakers get a kick out of that .

I am glad your ordered arrived. Often those who deliver the packages here to not speak Italian, I do not know from which countries they are from, but I cannot understand a word of what they say.

It is no surprise that your Social Security would arrive. It comes out of a different fund, not the general fund and is not affected by the shutdown. Hopefully the news didn't lie to you and cause you to worry.

@porwest I was sort of worried but kept praying and the Lord provided a nice surprise so I would not have to worry an extra day instead of Saturday when I expected it my SS arrived on Friday and I said Thank you, Lord.

@RasmaSandra Like I said, the Social Security money comes from an entirely different source, so the government could never open back up, and you'd still be paid. But I am glad you got it nonetheless. Although you never had anything to worry about. I mean, worst case scenario, maybe someone wouldn't be "in the office" to cut the check...but...yeah, you'd still get the payment.

We have had one or two of those too. Very interesting to try to give them directions because for some reason they have it wrong on the map. Fun!

When we visited Miami with my husband over 25 years ago he was very happy as everybody spoke Spanish. He did not speak English and had to rely on me for everything elsewhere in the US.

@marguicha now I wish I had taken Spanish in high school instead of French which I never learned to speak well.

Yeah, happens here all the time, they expect Americans to learn their language ...... whatever happened to immigrants learning English when they come to our country? Or maybe the languages of the North American Native Americans?

@rebelann well I have been lucky that I never had to speak to them but if I did it would be such a pain in the neck complaining to Walmart over the PC.
