Really Canon?

My Canon eos 90D camera started smoking when I took a photo of my little one. I mailed it out weeks ago to be looked at. I hadn’t heard anything yet about the cost of the repair etc. Yesterday I got a package with a camera in it. So get this they send me a loaner camera they are letting me use but it has no battery in it and I have to return it by November 20. How am I supposed to use it without a battery? Now I have to make sure to get to wherever there is a FedEx location near me before the 20th. I’m guessing the closest one would be 20-30 miles away. Photo is a picture of the loaner camera they sent me.

How weird...it is nice of them to send a loaner camera, but apparently they didn't make sure it worked before they sent it.]sad[/em]

@snowy22315 very nice of them as it is a very expensive camera. Not helpful though .

That's one thing cameras didn't do in the old days. Smoke. Well, maybe back in the 1800s when they used dynamite for the flash. That last part was a joke, by the way. lol

@porwest yep with the 35 mm cameras I’d take a photo and hope it turned out good then have to wait two weeks after the roll was mailed in to be developed for me to get it back and see how the photo turned out.

@shaggin Oh, for sure. The picture quality is much better and of course, with digital, we have the option of unlimited takes to an extent which means, we have a better chance to get the best picture.

Maybe you were supposed to keep the battery from the smoker?

@shaggin So, they're willing to lend you a camera but not a battery... gotta keep their costs down, y'know...

@BarbaraPrz no they knew I sent that in because I checked it off on the sheet of what was included in what I sent so it was on record. The battery needed to be examined as well to make sure it wasn’t affected by whatever the issue was causing the smoke .

I think I'd do a review on it and see what other users have to say. Businesses sure are getting weird these days.

@celticeagle that’s a good idea. I hadn’t thought to do that but it would be good to warn others who may be considering that model.

This is weird, Canon customer service is far to be good in our days. I also had problems with them.

@LadyDuck when I called they had nothing under my account about this loaner camera. I was crazy that they didn’t send me an email or call me to let me know they were sending this.

@LadyDuck I returned it yesterday. I had to get groceries and there was one a few miles from there. Still a 30 mile drive but at least i didn’t have to make the drive just to send out the camera.

@shaggin - They used to be a good serious company, it's a mess now. Their cameras are not cheap.

That isn't any help at all - just another inconvenience trying to get it back to them on time.

@Judyev yeah unfortunately it really did no good. I’m pretty pressed for time when my little one is at school. To try to get up to the area to get groceries and back on time can be tough without having to make other stops.

@RasmaSandra I’m not sure I have heard of that brand. I know I have never owned one anyway.

@sallypup I have had a few. I have Panasonic cameras for years but then the last model I got I didn’t care for and switched to using canon.
