Good evening, friends.
I have had 3 problems lately with the meds I take. The first is that several of them are meds that I must pay in full. And they are very expensive. The second problem is that they are so many that I spend a long time placing pills in my pill box and all the time I´m terrified that I don´t do it well and get poisoned by them. The pills are different depending on the lab that makes them so I can´t "learn" what is what. And last buy not least is that many pills not fix anything. The doctors have givenn me several pills "for pain" yet the pain is there. So, why take them? Or, why take so many?
My father, a biochemist, did several of his experiments with rats. And there was a rat that was given something and another that was a "control rat" that wasn´t. He said that unfortunatly people did not have a "control rat". So I will just have to experiment how I feel will less pills. At least I´ll spend less time with the pill box.
My arthrosis cannot be cured. So all those pills are just so it hurts less. But I have discovered tht some people are happier with one pill and others do better with another.
Are you a "pill lover" or a "pill hater"? I don´t like all pills although I have my favorites.

@marguicha - I know which pill I need if I am really in pain, the other only help the big pharma companies to become richer.

I worry about you.
Please talk with your doctor before you stop taking any of your regular medicines. I hate taking pills, too, but I know they're good for me so I continue taking them anyway.

@marguicha Okay, as long as they're ONLY for pain, then you could stop taking them. What I'm worried about it that some of my pills were prescribed for something other than pain but they are pain pills, too.
I just don't want you to make a mistake.

I take as few as I can. Be careful which ones you don't take

Just be careful about which pills you discontinue without talking to your doctor. I hate having to take pills; but they are necessary for me.

I love my pills.
There are only 5 things in this life that I truly love.
Myself, my Timmy, my Dad, my sleep, and my pills.
Side note: Maybe slowly taper down on the pain meds so you don’t get the shakeys. They might sneak up on ya. Good luck :)

Please be careful. I have a few I count as essential. Others I fill on the condition I have enough money. But I fill in my doctor what I’m doing while I do it. Going cold turkey off some medicine is a disaster waiting to happen.
You’re smart though. Just take good care of yourself.

I have a pill that I have been taking for over 30 years. Once, even a doctor not so close a friend told me that I might stop taking it. I replied that as I lived alone I would not do it. It was my cane and I diid not want to fall. Some years later I saw a neurologist (that´s what those pills were for) and he ordered some tests. After looking at the results, he told me that I was intelligent and my friend was stupid.
. If I had money problems, I´d change my eating habits before leaving those pills. But "pills for pain" that don´t stop pain are not as important. I will try some natural things like ginger and the like.

I understand the money aspect. If I didn't have insurance, I'd probably have to make some decisions like you are having to do too. It was very hard for me to begin taking medications. I used to just use herbs and natural meds. But, when I saw what a difference they made with my daughter and her problems I was pretty much sold. I hope you do very well with this change. I think if needed you could get some family or the lady who comes to clean to help you with your pill box filling. I wish you well with this change.

I can't blame you there 4-SURE, I'm the same way myself
I take 6 meds & 2 of them I take 2 X's a day & when I 1st
started all of them it was SO confusing I was lost on how
I was going to make it all work right & be safe at the same time.
Now that it's been 3 yrs out of the hosp & with ALL the meds
I take it's been going pretty good, I do have days I wonder
if taking all them really help or not but I have seen my
improvement from where I was when I came home from
the hosp, & YES I do have a pill box I put my daily dose
of meds in so I keep track of what meds I take everyday.
Today My sugar Dr put me on a NEW med & it has me
worried about it cause I did some research on it & it's
NOT good,
if you hit the link you'll see why.

I check the new meds and not all of them are as good as I would want them to be.
