The cleaning lady went through the food donation bag

I went through the cabinets last week to clear out stuff that I didn't want, wasn't going to use, had too much of, etc. I had a full shopping bag of things to bring to work for the food drive. The cleaning lady is always struggling. I was her 4th job just yesterday. She is always happy to take leftovers home for dinner. She's told me that she regularly goes to the food bank. I feel badly for her. I can't imagine having to worry about having something to eat. She was here yesterday and did her thing. I told her that I had a bag of food by the door that I was going to donate but she was welcome to go through it and take whatever she wanted. She took almost half of the stuff. I'm not mad about that at all. I'm happy that I could give her some supplies that she and her family can use. I still have a lot of stuff to add to the food drive. I probably could go through the cabinets and find even more. It is important now more than ever to help out our fellow community members. Trump and the courts don't want to pay out SNAP benefits. He lies and says that food costs are down. We all know that isn't the truth.

Thank you for doing that. I don’t understand why some people are getting their SNAP and others like me and so many more aren’t. I’m doing fine after that bag of groceries from my church though. Can you fathom that there are people happy about this? That they deserve it? It’s hard to believe.

Well some eat slop. Some have disordered eating. Some are just evil people who are happy to see others suffer.

Sometimes the people we see most often are those in need. My sister regularly shared with Bob and I especially during COVID because her apartment complex made sure she got commodities and then there was a grant where she was and they got even more food. We do need to make sure we use it and do not waste it.

Pretty received a partial payment on her SNAP card a couple of days ago and they say she'll get the rest in a few more days. My card is supposed to be reloaded on the 19th... I hope everything is fixed by then. (We could have managed another month on what we already have here but I'm glad we shouldn't need to do that.) I'm glad you were able to help out the cleaning lady. I'm sure she was grateful for the help.

Thank you for being such a kind warm soul in a cold cruel world. May god continue blessing you as you continue to bless others

That was good of you. These times bring me back to when my family lived in northern Idaho. Daughter was small and we lived past the boonies. I found a job cleaning cabins at a resort. Many times the folks renting those resorts would leave open packages of spaghetti noodles etc. We cleaning ladies grabbed those leftovers and were grateful to have them.

Yeah, and we’re all getting $2,000 checks from the tariffs. The most accurate way I’ve heard it expressed was from a rabbi: “Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care.”
