Orange They Good? Yeah, Me Thinks So

Knock, knock." "Who's there?' "Orange." "Orange, who?" "Orange you glad I'm not writing another preachy money post or political diatribe?" Or, for that matter writing comments equivalent to three separate posts? Hey. I know what I do around here, and I know what people probably say "behind the scenes." I am not without a sense of humor or humility, you know, even if sometimes it doesn't come across that way. I have been called a "windbag" more than once. Speaking of bags and orange, how about cheesy, orange, cheese curls? No, not Cheeto's. Kroger's variety of the same thing. Their cheesy, corn curls at $1.89 a bag. They are a pass and are delicious. They only recently started offering them at my local Ruler Foods store and they are definitely a buy again. When it comes to certain snacks, do you buy generic? Or are you a brand only personality? And are you glad this was not a money post or political diatribe? Inquiring minds want to know.

@porwest it’s true. We have something called Quavers ….they are cheese curls , but they don’t look the same as the things in your photo.

They don't have cheese curls in the UK? I find that very, very hard to believe.

I just ignore your money posts. *shrug* Some generic or store brands I like and some aren't as good as they could be. I like the Walmart brand cheese curls just as well as the brand name ones. Walmart still hasn't gotten their store brand Doritos knock-offs up to speed yet, so I still buy brand name on those. (I have a bag of Nacho Cheese Doritos on my headboard right now. )

I know what you mean. Getting ahead and taking advantage of all capitalism has to offer is such a terrible thing when you can just rely on the government to bail you out. Ahem. By the way, you need not respond to that. But you can't deny you left it open for me to make my comment anyway. As for the cheese curls, I have not tried Walmart's yet. Most of their chips and snacks are priced higher than other places, and so I rarely get them. I cannot tell you the last time I bought name brand snack anything. The knock-offs are just as good, I have always found.

@porwest I wasn't always a poor person but I never had the training to make money with the money I had. Remember, we don't have other stores here besides Walmart and, I think it's called King's something or other. They're more expensive than Walmart. So Walmart is where we shop. I really do like the store brand soups but, still will buy some name brand soups when they're on a good sale. Last time there was less than a nickel difference in their prices so I bought the name brand.

@DaddyEvil You actually make a point that I make all the time when you said, "I never had the training to make money with the money I had." That is why I write the posts I do. It's to "educate" people not only on better ways to manage what they have, but ways to grow it as well, and most importantly... How to THINK about it so that one is encouraged to figure it out. The reality is most people DON'T get the "training," most people don't seek it out, and thus, whenever we complain about the wealth gap, at least it is (partly) easily explained. But I will leave it at that. As for stores, luckily, we have a few more choices around here. They are still quite a bit more limited than I'd like them to be. What we need here is bit more competition to help drive all prices down a bit further. It will come one day. It's just not here now.

I have no problem buying generic, but sometimes the name brands on sale aren't too bad. At least you see yourself realistically, and that is good. Many people can't or won't be honest with themselves.

A snack post sounds good to me. Cheesy crunchy snack of any kind sounds good to me. I like cheese nips.

The only snacks I buy are potato chips and the best I can find are generic, not brand.

I would imagine in Italy, it works the same as here. That most generics are made by the same companies who produce the brands. I tend to like the generics better as well when it comes to snacks.

I'm trying the generic veggie straws today; and I'm always open to trying house brands of most items. Yes, I'm glad it was a food post.

lol. Hey, it is what it is, and everyone has their fancy when it comes to post content. House brands are often made by the same companies who make the brand names, so really, 90% of the time, your practically getting the same product with just a few slight modifications.

@porwest Strangely enough, the Great Value Veggie Straws were 15 cents an ounce higher than the brand name; so I bought the brand name.

I've love Great Value potato chips, but the best kind of pretzels for me sill are Rold Gold. Occasionally I get a huge jug of Utz cheese balls from Amazon.

Those crunchy cheese curls are my favorite. I prefer them over potato chips when I'm looking for a crunchy snack. Your $1.89 was a bargain for that size bag.

I've mostly started glossing over political and money posts from most members, not just you.
