Update On Disturbing Situation

I broke down yesterday and decided to call my family member that intentionally didn’t invite the other family member to the dinner party. It went very well and I feel much better. I asked them if this was a permanent thing to not include this loved one and they quickly told me that they felt bad about what they had done. They assured me that everyone would get an invite next time. I don’t want to go into the details, but it was done over something very petty. I am the eldest in my family and old enough to be the mother of the one I called. We have always had a good relationship and so I felt they would receive my call and thoughts on what they had done well. Fortunately they had concluded themselves that what they did was wrong. The one that wasn’t invited is still oblivious. I pray that they stay that way. I love my family very much and we have always been very close. I intentionally didn’t say who they were to me, because it didn’t feel right to talk about them behind their back. I appreciate that I could vent here. Thanks

I'm glad you addressed the situation and it's resolved now and that you feel better about it. Hopefully the uninvited never finds out and the next get-to-gether goes smoothly.

I think you did the right thing, and it was probably relieving to know that felt bad about their exclusion.

Oh, that's wonderful to hear! Family is so important its rough when someone is excluded no matter what the reason. It's just so nice when all are in attendance. I'm glad whoever got it all straightened out and that this person will get an invite next time.

That is good, that you called and that they said they were wrong in what they did...hopefully this won't happen again. I do hope the one not invited never finds out that they weren't. Try to put it behind you if you can, you did all that you could do to rectify the situation, Marie.
