Couch Verdict (LOL)

So you might remember my dad and stepmom threw my beat up, but comfortable, couch away while was on vacation, and replaced it with their couch. I sleep on my couch (my mattress is terrible), so I was a little concerned about how this was going to go. I mean, I really appreciate a newer one, but my old couch was great for my messed up back.
The plus, is that it is a longer couch than my old one. I’m 5’11, so it’s nice to be able have that much room. The arms of the couch are also lower, so my pillow doesn’t get squashed when I place it down. The negative? The back of the couch has cushions that are so fluffy, they push me towards the edge of the couch. There is no “sinking” into the softness (the cushions are attached so I can’t “adjust” them). This means the dog can no longer sleep by my side, which doesn’t make her happy. She now has to sleep by my feet.
The final verdict is that while this couch is not as good for sleeping, at least it doesn’t look like I picked it up off the street. I may not sleep quite as well on it, I am thankful they thought to do it.
Do you guys like your couch? Do you need another one? Have you seen the prices? After giving me theirs my stepmom decided to buy one for their house, but the prices are so outrageous they have yet to find one for a reasonable price.

We have a leather sofa …..The Misters choice, not mine…….but as I was getting most other things in the house I thought I’d better let him choose at least one thing. Ha ha.
It’s comfy enough ….i have slept on it …..when I first broke my arm and had to sleep sitting up…..the sofa reclines and it was easier somehow to sleep on the sofa.

My dad a leather sofa once, but in the summer you almost stick to the couch because it was so hot, and you’d get sweaty. In Oklahoma, we routinely have months with 100+ degree F temps or more (38+ in C). Unfortunately, my dad, who will give anything he has to anyone who needs it, is a stickler for saving money on his electric bill. So he didn’t care that we’d stick to the couch; he was not turning the air conditioner down. And his ceiling fans did nothing!

@AmbiePam yes, that’s one of the reasons I wouldn’t choose leather……and we don’t have air conditioning in the Uk…..

I hope you'll be able to adjust and sleep well. Instead of a new mattress, have you considered a pillow topper? They really made my mattress more comfortable.

They really are helpful. How is your back situation?

@AmbiePam I have two on my bed, lol. It's either the princess and the pea story or Fibromyalgia.

Yes, I like my couch. It's almost as old as Pretty but still looks fairly good. No holes in cushions or worn looking spots. The bad part about it is the material it's made from makes it too hot to sleep on during the summer. I've slept on it a lot when the weather is chilly and it's perfect for that.
No, I haven't priced new couches. We don't need a new one.
I think I gave around $200 for our couch. I just looked up the Furniture Factory Outlet, where I bought our couch, chair and coffee table back then and a couch similar to the one we have is around $450 now.

@AmbiePam Yeah, I'm sure. Furniture Factory Outlet is a place for cheap furniture... I never expected out furniture to last 30 years when I bought it.

I have a small couch just for sitting and if I lean up against a pillow on one end I can stretch out my legs to watch videos, I have a full sized bed for sleeping,

Sounds like your new couch has both pros and cons. I can imagine that Sadie isn't happy with that new couch upsetting her sleeping arrangements. I'm sur though, that after a few days you'll get used to it.
Our couch is comfy. Both ends are power recliners so it's perfect for napping

@AmbiePam I don't think I could go back to a normal couch ever again. Having power recliners is the bomb diggity

I have a loveseat that I sometimes nap on but I go to bed at night. Both are comfy.

My couch is OK, but given the opportunity I would get another. This one has seen better days, like most of the things in here honestly. Sounds like a mixed verdict on the new couch, but I suppose you will adjust to it in time.

Lately I find every piece of furniture expensive. I´m waiting for the house to sell so that they feel cheaper again.

We've been trying to replace our couch for years now

.
We have a tiny couch . . . 3 people could sit on it comfortably without feeling squished. I don't really sit there, Hubby says it kills his back, so the kids are on it. But I feel like there's nowhere except the dining table where we can all sit together. I want a longer and L shaped configuration for our small area - thus far I have not been able to find the right size - so I'm fine with not rushing it. There are cheaper furniture stores, but I know too well how long those couches do NOT last . . . the better quality stuff, well yikes.

An L shaped couch would be amazing. I always wanted one of those Love Sac couches. They sound so comfortable! Apparently, my stepmom found a couch she liked for a reasonable price because they just texted me it would arrive tomorrow. Hopefully, the quality is decent because her budget sure wasn’t.
