The endless problems of the US Mail Service...they never end.

I do know I am not the only one with mail issues, whether it's what I receive, what I should receive, or actually mailing things. They are in such a snarl, and I don't see how they will ever fix it, either.
In the last two weeks, I have received 4 things sent to me that were not addressed to me, nor did they have an address on them that was anywhere close to where I live. I have lived here over 12 years, it was brand new when I moved in, and this street and address did not exist before that--it was a field. It's not being sent to someone who used to live here, because I am the only one who ever has.
I got an electric bill, what appeared to be a credit card bill, and 2 envelopes that looked to be cards. None of them were mine or addressed to me. I didn't receive my own electric bill, so I had to look it up to pay it. I would opt for paperless with the electric bill, but due to the fact that they messed up big time with the billing online, I get the paper bill (sometimes!) and then I pay it online.
Yesterday, we had a big fat envelope of papers containing medical information to be sent to my son's disability lawyer (again...there is nothing they don't know about him at this point) so I hiked off to the Pony Express post office to take care of mailing it. I have learned the hard way that with important documents or papers, to send them certified mail, so they have to be signed for. Otherwise, they may well end up in the endless circle of mail that disappeared. It was nearly $8 to send that envelope...seriously? The last one I sent via registered mail was the same size, and it was $5 something. . The lady in front of me in line sent a very small Priority Mail package out, and it was $11. All that money for poor service.
Yes, I have complained about poor mail service in the past. Our @AmbiePam has had problems with postal theft, and others I know have had big issues as well. Will mail as we know it come to a halt? What about the people who count on it, like people who don't use the internet at all? We need this service for many....and sadly, it's not a service anymore.

Overall I don't have a problem with the mail service. I rarely have anything I've sent out lost in the mail but I don't think we ever received our city tax bill that's due by Feb. I have an idea of what it is from what we paid last year.
And, there's a small possibility that we did get it and lost it although I have a special place that I put it right when it comes. But I've never asked my husband to put it there.
I plan on calling the city treasurer and asking how much it is. I use my bank's bill pay and that check gets mailed. It's always arrived so that doesn't concern me.
Once time a few years ago I got a piece of mail that did have our address on it and questioned it for a few days. Once I looked at it again I got a good laugh realizing it was for my daughter.
And I have gotten mail for my next door neighbor but I just walk it over.

I was just about to do a discussion about the post office.
You know I feel you. I, too, started sending certain things certified mail to prove it got there. Some were because of the post office, and some were because the government always “loses” things. Only because the post office is so messed up, I never know which!
