Let's Talk Health and Weight

When I was here before I gave a weekly update about my weight. Well, I'm stable, meaning I'm still in the 200s. Not happy about that. At my last infusion I was under, which made me happy. I worried it would be over with Thanksgiving the day before, but I was surprised to see it at 197.7. Now, I'm up again and trying to get it back to that. I gained 9 pounds in a week. I'm now down 3 pounds. I weighed in this morning at 203.7. Using a walker is working against me, but I'm still moving. People are getting used to seeing me walking the halls with it. I wish I didn't need it. Oh well. I'm not getting any younger.
They did a blood panel at the last infusion. That gave me some concerns too. My glucose is up. One thing I don't need is diabetes. I've made it 72 years without it. I don't want to start now. Everything in my life is sugar free and has been for quite a while. That doesn't mean those sweets people offer are sugar free. Even my neighbor who is diabetic over does the sugar in the desserts she makes.
Yes, I record what I eat on my Fitbit app. I do my best to keep the calories down. It doesn't always work well.
So, there you have it. I'm still walking and getting my exercise on the foot cycle. It helps.

I gave up trying to track my weight some time ago. I've been monitoring George's though, because of our battles with food intake.

@just4him He has. I know when his tube was removed, he lost some, too. As to how much I don't know.

Am I health conscious?
Well, I want to be.
But needs a lot more improvement on the implementation front.
I kind of wish I took up Nutrition in college instead. The diet stuff is hard to balance... especially for my mother who is diabetic, hypertensive, and most importantly, has started undergoing dialysis in the past year. Figuring out what can and can't be eaten can be mind-boggling.

Now that I've been diagnosed with kidney disease, I have to change my diet. I also have to watch my sugar intake because my A1C went up to 6.0.

Sorry that you gained that amount in a week...I know it's difficult when weight is gained so quickly...in a short time I gained around 60 pounds, still no idea why...unless it is just from insulin.
That's good you are still tracking and walking, etc....that's not always easy

Thank you. It's coming off. It was water weight.
I love to walk, so even if I need to use the walker, I'll walk.

Does a foot cycle give a good workout? I have thought of getting one.

Yes, it does. I can count on a few ounces gone when I step on the scale the day after a workout of up to an hour on a good day. Usually, my workout is around 40-45 minutes. One program on TV.

I try to make good choices but everything is OK in moderation. I have Hashimoto's, metabolic disorder and hypothyroidism. It's very difficult so I am just focusing on exercise, balance, choices, less stress and rest. It's so hard. I hope you find what works for you.

Since I dumped the weight I was lugging around, my brain automatically tallies up the calories no matter what--it's a habit now. I try hard to make good choices and desserts/sweets are limited. Both of my parents, as well as all four grandparents, were diabetic. I am determined to try to NOT follow in their footsteps in that regard.
It's good you have a foot cycle, I am sure that helps.

I'm glad you dumped the weight. Yes, I automatically calculate the calories too.
Thank you. Yes, the foot cycle is a great help.

Are you still able to do your swimming?. Yes, I guess I would describe my self as health conscious.

Swimming is a problem. I got back to the Kroc last month, only to find the time I went they don't have lifeguards for and the pool closed at 11 AM. My neighbor is a late riser, so going early like I used to is out of the question. I'm hoping they hire lifeguards so I can get back there.
