Getting Groceries

I just went over the grocery list with my daughter and set it up for delivery this evening between 7p. and 9p. I think this technology is so cool. I can 'view details' on the site and go right along with the person that is gathering up our groceries and readying it for delivery. If something is out of stock, I can chat with him/her and get something else. He is about halfway done and no substitutions so far. I got all the fixings for Christmas dinner, some special treats, deserts, household items and etc. all for under $300. That includes the delivery fee and tip. I like to stay at about $300 every two weeks. We also get a food box once a month that always has some good stuff in it. Need to eat up some things and get the fridge and shelves cleared for the new year. How you folks doing grocery wise? Ready for the holidays?

Pretty usually goes into Walmart to pick out our groceries and buys stuff I have on my list. She also picks out stuff she wants. For holiday foods, we usually buy them from my SNAP benefits and buy other stuff with hers. We get groceries, usually, twice a month. Once in a while, she'll order pick-up and my brother brings it to us. (I WISH we could get Walmart to deliver groceries to us here!) $300 is about what we spend every two weeks.

I am thankful for the service. Now my daughter doesn't have to lug it all home and then take the basket back. It can be over whelming.

Technology makes things easier for us without having to queue and stand for a long time. Holiday or not I must always be ready.

I could eat very well on that too but my grandson has to have food for all three meals where I just eat one main meal, maybe two on some days. Then I snack later on.

@celticeagle - Both my husband and I never had a lot of food, now it's a light lunch and an even lighter dinner.

@celticeagle We can walk to a supermarket but we have to be careful not to have too much weight to bring home.

All I have left to get are two sweet potatoes. Cousin #2 is getting some things as well. She will be coming over to cook dinner; and I will have some company.

@celticeagle I also proposed an idea for New Year's Day and she readily agreed. She will be coming over to make pork, sauerkraut and mashed potatoes....That was always our tradition when my husband was alive.

I love the ability to have groceries delivered. It saves so much time and I'm not putting extra stuff in the cart if I was walking through the supermarket.

I'm glad you have that done. I like watching the car's progress as it comes toward us. I am not sure what we are doing for Christmas food. Hubby loves pie so maybe some kind of vegetarian pot pie has been on my radar but I'm not sure what to put in it. Dessert?? I just tucked a dozen home funky cookies in the freezer.
