Happy Thursday Everyone! we got a wintry mix overnight so everything is slippery here this morning. The temperatures are hovering around the freezing mark but the sun is shining so hopefully it will melt the mess on the ground. Normally I don't mind the ads that pop up here but for the last day or so I've been inundated with cookies and gift basket shops. So much food and goodies that my eyes are getting fat This time of year I usually have an idea of what kind of cookies I'm going to bake. As each year passes my baking gets less and less and gone are the days when I used to bake dozens of different kinds of cookies. I still make some of the ones the family will be expecting ( chocolate chips, sugar cookies, thumbprints and chocolate chip meringues) When I was talking to my friend the other day, she told me she had 15 pounds of butter in her refrigerator for her cookie baking. Just the thought of 15 pounds of butter boggled my mind. She bakes for her family and also gives tins of cookies as gifts. So, here's my question....do you bake cookies for the holidays?

I don't bake many anymore but back in the day I used to spend a lot of time in the kitchen baking cookies. Then as the years went on and my granddaughters were younger we would get together and have a day of baking cookies. It was so much fun. Now they're all grown and they're working and in college. Good memories

@Marilynda1225 - I baked more until 6 years ago, when our niece came with her fiancee and the twin sister of her fiancee. They were all like kids.

I used to make cookies and different types of fudge for the holidays and gave it as gifts but haven't made either on in years now. I'm sure Pretty and I could eat them but I don't have anybody to give them to anymore. *shrug*

I've not baked cooking for the holidays or any other time for possibly ten to twenty years. My excuse before was working a lot and now I don't want my eyes to get fat either. I've found that I can't have just one, so why make any? I think I used to do no bakes longer than baking cookies but I don't do those either. I've never heard of meringue cookies or maybe I never knew their name.

15 pounds of butter? Wow! I am unable to cook and bake anymore; but I used to enjoy both.

Cookies and Christmas season go hand in hand, like Santa Claus and presents for little ones! Yes, the Mrs. and me bake cookies. Chocolate chip and M&M ones are favorites. Sugar and "S" cookies too. Have you heard of "S" cookies? It's an Italian treat and great for dunking.

I don't make very many if any anymore. I do still make fudge and buckeyes. Sometimes cupcakes.

When the kids were young we made so, so many cookies at Christmas. I still make a batch or two if we have family get-togethers over the holidays, but most of us have agreed that we don't need dozens of cookies, so we keep the number down now. 15 pounds of butter, that's a LOT of cookie dough!!
