Dodging bullets as well as a bushfire

There is a bushfire burning just south of Perth, Western Australia’s capital with fire-fighters facing an unusual situation.
The fire is burning in an area that was once used by the army for training purposes, including firearm and weapon training. Armaments were also stored there.
Unexploded ordnance is proving a challenge and machinery has been withdrawn from the area following the detonation of several shells. Having bullets flying past would be the last straw if you were a fire-fighter.
The photo is of the smoke from a bushfire that got a bit too close for comfort to our home in Donnybrook.
The photo was taken a couple of years ago when there was a bushfire near Mandurah where we were staying at the time.

Oh, my. That picture looks like one really hot, roaring fire! I am sure that was much too close for comfort, and beyond scary.
Is this new bushfire anywhere close to where you are now? I sure hope not. Unexploded ammo is a huge concern!

Central Illinois had the second driest year on record, ever, in 2025. We have had so many field fires that did so much damage, as well as other fires. I welcome ANY precipitation at all at this point; we truly need to get out of this extreme draught mode as soon as we can.

@MarieCoyle And while we're fighting fires, there is massive flooding in Queensland.

Wildfires can be very dangerous.
An affected Ordnance factory or store is even trickier.
I hope the fires get under control pretty fast so that there is no further damage.
Did you had to get away from your house during that bushfire?

Sounds like a relief.
Do you have above average temperatures this summer?

The fire is out now and no-one was hurt but it would have been a dangerous situation.

Oh, that’s doubly scary. Firefighters in America seem to be having II problems with the lithium ion batteries in electrical cars when there’s a fire in them, but at least the car doesn’t “shoot” at them while they’re trying to put the fire out!!!

I hope the firefighters are all okay.
I'd retreat outside the area where the ordnance and unexploded shells are being detonated and build firebreaks around that area and let everything in it burn. The military should have cleaned out unexploded ordnance/ammo before they withdrew....

@JudyEv Once the fire is out, they should. There's no telling if they will, though.

That fire would be too close.
I am glad the firefighters pulled back. It's not worth their lives.
