Happy New Year 2026

Good morning from cold Green Bay, Wisconsin. It was 2 F when I got up this morning with a -5 F wind chill. Our high today will be 11 F. Right now, it's 7 F. I welcomed in 2026 at midnight amid fireworks from Chicago. I also texted some of you and wished you a Happy New Year and got responses from those of you still awake to welcome the new year. Do you have goals and resolutions this year? My biggest goal is weight loss. I weighed in this morning at 196.4. I've gained a full pound with all that I lost with COVID. I guess it's to be expected. I'm eating more than I did during those two weeks. This year I'm going back to 2016 with a no sugar goal for the entire year. Along with that goal, I also want to get back to the pool. I got back there in November, but not since. Life has a way of circumventing your plans. My next biggest goal is to get two books published this year: Faith to Believe, which I hope I can get published this month, and Love's Illusion before June. If I can get Faith to Believe published early, hopefully, I can follow it with Love's Illusion. That will give me the opportunity to publish a third if God allows. Another hope I have is for continued good relationships with two of my children. My son lives here and my daughter is in Texas. It would be great to see her, my granddaughter, and great grandchildren. God willing it would make for a wonderful year. Okay, those are my goals for 2026. I think they're doable. What are your goals for 2026? Let me know in the comments below. Thanks for reading. The image belongs to me. A rock I painted last year.

That is very cold, not a fun way to start off the year! But those sound like good goals, I hope that it will all work out for you with them all. My main goal for the year is to conceive. Next is to get off the carbs/sugar, though that is going to be very difficult.

@just4him No problem... and thanks I hope too...but after a year and a half without succeeding it seems difficult.

@just4him - I will surely arrive to do that. I am planning my meals, I know where to cut. I never totally give up sugar because the brain needs sugar, it iss its primary source of energy to function properly. The brain uses about half of all the sugar energy in the body to support activities like thinking, memory, and learning. I will cut on fats and carbs.

@LadyDuck That's a good place to cut. My sugar is less but not 100% gone.

Those are great goals! I hope to continue my weight loss, and maybe, if I can afford it, join a pool for exercise. My surgeon said I can either walk or get in a pool for exercise, and my back only allows me to walk so far. Unfortunately, our apartment’s pool hasn’t worked in four years, so I’ll have to pay if I want to use one.

@just4him I’m 44, but I’ll remember that for when I get older. I’m sure I’ll need it.

I don't know how old you are, but if you are on Medicare Advantage, it's one of the perks - free memberships at various gyms. Then you can go as often as you want.

Happy New Year 2026 !! May this year be a great one for you. Chill has been taking over most of the places in Northern Hemisphere, especially above Tropics I suppose. Yesterday we had Day Time Max of 14.2 C, a drop of 7 C from the previous day and cold winds. Plus since we do not have Heating systems in every room it can be a challenge. Do remember we face 40 C plus in summers ! By the way, it was a 6 years lowest Dec temperature on 31st !! No set goals as such. But plans - big and small. Also, this year I have to face up to some harsh realities of life and talk to someone. It could be tough and could have some consequences which might not be to my liking. Yet I have to do it. In short, another Life crossroads. Anyways, best of health, wealth and Happy Times - 2026

That's a good set of goals. I'm always up for losing weight. I want to have more communication with my husband's family and members here. Now that I have a smartphone I can text which is a lot of fun.

I do not do goals or resolutions, but I do have intentions and I add them all year long. I intend to do more singing at home as a type of devotion time. I intend to find the right food balance for me with this clinical trial I am doing. I intend to move more and sit less. You are so disciplined about your food and your writing. I admire you.

It was nice to get my first New Years text from you last night. It made me smile and I was glad I hadn't fallen asleep and missed it. You have some good goals for 2026 and they all seem doable. It would really be nice if you got to see your daughter, granddaughter and great grandchildren. I have a few goals set and the main one is to lose some weight. Last year my goal was to give up cookies, cake and sweets and I am happy to say I was successful I also felt so much better and the doctor was happy with my bloodwork. So, I'll continue on that this year too and mainly focus on better health. One thing I won't give up is buying yarn

Oh heavens no. You can't give up yarn. What would you do with your life, drink coffee? I'm totally happy for you giving up sweets. That's my goal for this year and I hope I can do it. I hope you have a chance to see the cover for Love's Illusion. It looks pretty good.

I don't make resolutions. In fact, the last year I did was the year I resolved to never again make resolutions, and that one stuck. Onward and upward, happy new year, and glad to have you onboard with us for 2026.
