Happy New Year. . . Do I need another cat?

It is warm but foggy out today. Bruno went outside.
Just a bit ago I heard "someone" crying. I went to the door, Bruno came in, and the crying continued.
I looked on the front porch and there was a young cat. When it saw me, it sort of left, but kept coming back, calling for Bruno. I think it finally left.
I do not need another cat. Usually they avoid my yard.
I am glad this one was not like Pedro, who marched right in and adopted us.
Sure wish Bruno would quit adopting strays.

Uh huh... Bruno is adopting them.
Did he drag Pedro in by the scruff of the neck or did you hold the door open and Pedro took it as an invitation?
If you have room and can afford another baby, then hold the door open and see if he strolls in, too.2 people like this

When the cat saw me he turned around and left. It is hard to afford the two cats I've got.

@DaddyEvil I think this one may have a home but was lost in the fog. With Pedro he was sitting on the porch railing one morning. When I opened the door for Bruno to go out, he sauntered in. They briefly touched noses in passing and have gotten along great. Bruno is a pretty mellow guy.

@GardenGerty Good thing he left, then. I hope he doesn't show up here!

Bruno may have reassured him that he was Okay. This kitty looked like maybe he was confused and needed to find his way home. He did not look starved or abused.

Yeah, you always need another cat. Or so they think. Imagine my surprise when I saw one of “my” strays at another house, getting food after I’d fed them!

I do not put food outside, trying not to attract strays. Yes, they can be very opportunistic.

Awww poor kitty needs either a home or a friend. Chances are you'll find yourself with a new kitty?

Nope, I think he had wandered from home, as he looked cared for. Just had to get his bearings.Lots of stray cats this time of year.

It could be he does. My sister said he lived at a shelter for two years before she adopted him. I think that is why he gets along so well with other cats.

At one point I was down to no cats. Bruno belonged to my sister, who passed away. Last Spring Pedro showed up on my porch and walked right in. I really do not want any more strays.

I think this kitty was confused by the fog. He headed off towards the city center and the place where several people feed extra cats. If he had come in the door when I opened it this might be a different story.

Maybe it was confused in the fog and needed to find its way to its real home. I hope that is the case.

Oh but these are big cats, with big appetites and they take up a lot of room on the bed if they decide to sleep with us.

Sometimes, animals choose us, we don’t choose them. The stray kitty probably had a chat with Bruno and heard about the kitty love and the good food you serve, and wanted to try his luck.

I am thinking this kitty was just a bit disoriented in the fog. He did not come in when I opened the door, but then headed on east of here.

Hopefully, the kitty has a good home and was just out visiting.

Maybe you do need a new buddy. Is he or she skinny and needy?
