I was wondering about pizza since my cousin brought one over for us to enjoy for New Years. Pizza has been around since 997Ad. In Italy and it started off as a flat bread with different toppings on it. Pizza was first made in Italy and brought to the United States. And it took off from there, Now there are different types of pizzas and there are now lots of different pizza places. In the 1950's frozen pizza was made so you could take it home and fix it in your oven at home. I fix homemade pizza all the time.

Home made pizza is so tasty. Often my yeast dough gets pretty fat and has a mind of its own. Hubby doesn't like the smell of hot cheese now so I rarely make it.

@jstory07 My husband is more and more sensitive to smells. He admitted that the smell of hot oysters and clams in our Christmas Eve chowder bothered him. I guess I will make corn chowder next year??

I have seen in Pompeii the "flat bread" found under the ashes after the Volcano Vesuvius destroyed the city in 79 A.D. It looked like the modern pizza. Of course no tomato on top of pizza in Italy before Columbus discovered Americas. It had several toppings, but NO tomatoes. I still love white pizza without tomato sauce.

Pizza does have a fascinating history. Starting as a simple flatbread with toppings in Italy, it has become a global food. Over time, those humble beginnings evolved into something loved around the world with just customizations or perhaps toppings to suit the local tastes. When pizza made its way to the United States, it found an entirely new audience. That’s when creativity really took off with styles, crusts, and toppings multiplying everywhere. Different regions began putting their own spin on it, making pizza incredibly diverse. The invention of frozen pizza in the 1950s changed home cooking in a big way. Suddenly, pizza became an easy and anytime meal straight from the oven. It’s amazing how something so simple became such a staple. Homemade pizza, though, always feels a bit more special. You can tailor it exactly to your taste and mood. Sharing pizza on New Year’s sounds like a warm and joyful way to celebrate together. Jus thoughts from another Pizza lover!

It's been years since I made homemade pizza, but I usually buy the bread in the supermarket. We just finished the leftover pizza earlier from the New Year, lol!

I LOVE pizza. I could eat it once a week. I'm not supposed to eat dairy or processed meats anymore; but I plan on cheating once and a while.

@jstory07 With the new lady that is replacing cousin #2, I plan on taking her to Red Lobster and Longhorn Steakhouse for a "perk". I will eat what I want and drink a Diet Coke or Pepsi (something else I can't have).
