Is cleaning out yours or a relative's attic on your "to do " list? You may not realize it but some of the stuff you are about to give to Goodwill or put in the dumpster could be worth a lot of money. Here is a list of some items to look out for: * Original Tupperware -- Wonderlier Bowl sets from the 40s and 50s or Astro Bowls from the 70s sell for $30 on eBay. * Vintage Cookbooks -- One from the 18th and 19th centuries sell for $50. The Joy of Cooking has a price tag of $1,000, and Betty Crocker's Picture Cookbook is worth hundreds. * Pyrex Kitchenware -- a 4 piece mixing bowl set is worth $65 today. * VHS Tapes -- Ones like Back to the Future, Jaws or Star Wars that are still in the shrink wrap can be worth thousands. * Retro Video Tapes -- Super Mario Brothers once sold for $660,000. 1980's furniture, perfume bottles, Retro advertising, classic typewriters, antique rugs, holiday ornaments, Scouts memorabilia, vintage t-shirts (especially rock groups and Harley Davidson), signed yearbooks, old magazines, cookie jars, cassette tapes, first-edition books, vintage toys, and vintage vinyl records are all worth money. You can just take a picture of the item with Google Lens and see what its value is.

I love my Pyrex bowls. And I have my Mom's Bettey Crocker. The tape that holds it together is yellowed with age. You would have fun going through my house.

We don't have an attic and Pretty sorted everything she thought we'd want before our last move. She threw away a lot of stuff I'd been keeping... She said it was all junk. *shrug* Things I KNEW were worth money I put in my stuff and made sure to bring with us.

Good for you! Young people just don't seem to get it about old items, and this saddens me.

@celticeagle She did throw out a second set of state quarters that were in a sealed box because she thought it was just more junk... I didn't tell her she'd made a mistake. She was sorting everything while I was working all the time before we moved. At least she was helping.

I'm not sure what's in my attic, ghosts maybe, because it's not easy getting into it. I know there's supposedly insulation up there.

Our Attic is not much of one, we have a bunch of installation but they be noises like something up there all that warmth. Have not seen no raccoons, but there is gopher and little ball of hair that runs in my room from time to time. Its to fast for a rat, to fast for anything. Does not leave poop, looked for damage, no damage. Just sleeps from time to time and is gone.. Kai finally saw it for the the first time. Before she could even flinch. Its smart what ever it is. I think its the first time it realized Kai knows they here now and they paused because they going to be more careful now. Do not ask me how I know that, just could see it on Kai's face who is my dog. She been around awhile. Just kind of like eh, to fast and no harm.

You might have mice. You'd be surprised how fast those little rats/mice can scurry. You need a cat.

@celticeagle I thought so too, we have had field mice before, but this is just one. It might be some type of mouse. Its not very big, its the only one. Which is weird because the last time there was about two dozen, It might just be a outcast male maybe. We have alley cats and they do come in our yard from time to time to get water and maybe chase that guy. Its been doing this about a year, but its only like a couple of times a month. Trust me I have been paying attention so it does not breed to a bigger problem. I think might be just using our place as my home is to far away will sleep here safe tonight.

@celticeagle - We moved from a three story house to an apartment, those things had to go. When we were running short of time I donated to charities.

Well, attic, garage, spare room, etc. Wherever you store things you aren't using.

I never did either. I used the term loosely just meaning boxed away. Stored like in the garage or spare room.

I have some old stuff but what with postage being so expensive, it's hard to get rid of it.

An occasional sale can mean some extra money for a trip or something.

I have a lot of collectibles. Hubby and I used to prowl garage and estate sales. I have donated a LOT to the Salvation Army and Goodwill. I don't want to go through the trouble of listing on eBay and then having to pack everything up and finding someone to take everything to the post office. I might end up donating more items.
