What a Fiasco

Todays lunch was a Dolly Parton beef stew (frozen microwavable meal). I've had it before and it's really good.
Popped it in the microwave and hit an extra minute because I wanted it to be hot.
As I was taking it out of the microwave (which is above my stove) it slipped out of my hand, hit the stove and splashed all over the floor.
Not only was it a mess but piping hot and of course the dog was trying to get past me to gobble it up. Normally I would have been happy for her to help but it was so hot I was afraid she would burn her tongue and mouth.
My daughter heard me yelling and came running downstairs as she thought I got hurt but I was only trying to get the dog away from that hot food.
It certainly caused not only a fisaco but quite the mess on my stove and floor.
Needless to say, my stove is now clean and so is the floor. Neither was on my radar for cleaning today but my slippery fingers moved it to the top of my list. Thankfully my daughter was able to help and between us we got it done in record time.
So, what did I have for lunch today? peanut butter on toast
What did the dog have? scrapped up Dolly Parton beef stew from the floor.

If it wasn't such a mess it was kind of funny
You know what they say "if you don't laugh, you'll cry"
Mush had the best lunch

@Marilynda1225 - It's a shame when you waste the food that you were ready to eat.

Oh my goodness. I'm glad no one was injured in the mishap. Unfortunately Dolly Parton meals are too high in sodium and fat for me. I'll have to live vicariously through you!!!

It is kind of dangerous to have the microwave over the stove and I'm always careful so I don't know what happened yesterday. Guess it was just a case of butterfingers.
I know you have to watch your sodium but I'm curious if the doctor gave you a limit as to how much to have daily [i you don't mind my asking] I started keeping track beginning of Jan for my calories, sodium, carbs etc and it's so hard to get all that into a daily balance.

I'm sorry you lost your dinner to the dog, but I am very glad you didn't get burned. I just hate when I make a big mess sometimes in the kitchen, glad that your daughter was there to help you.

I'm glad she was here to help too. What a mess but accidents happen. Certainly could have been worse

@Marilynda1225 yes, it could have, and you could have ended up burning both yourself and the dog, too. We all have kitchen accidents sometimes, part of life.

What a fiasco indeed. Sorry to hear that happened. I wish we got Dolly Parton products here. We haven't had lunch. Will have baked salmon with unagi sauce and red potatoes.

I got my Dolly Parton at Walmart. I really haven't looked to see if it's sold anywhere else.

I'm glad none of you got hurt in the resulting mess.
When we moved into this house and were situating our things around the kitchen, there is a open shelf above the stove. Our microwave would have fit there perfectly but I didn't want it above shoulder height. Pretty couldn't reach it and something hot might slip out of our hands. We have a dishwasher that's portable (sort of). It's on wheels and fit between the outside wall and the fridge. I rolled it in there and we put the microwave on it. That puts the microwave at a convenient height for both of us even if it is a little out-of-the-way and inconvenient. (I quit using the dishwasher LONG before we moved into this house. It's just another counter top now.)1 person likes this

It's really dangerous to have the microwave over the stove and I'm always doubly careful when lifting stuff out of it. I'm always afraid that I'll drop something and get burned. I wish I had counter space for a microwave but I really don't. Your using your dishwasher as a counter top is smart idea for your microwave.

Of course she is and hopefully it doesn't happen again. She did enjoy her floor lunch more than I enjoyed that sad peanut butter substitute.
