That Wasn’t How I Planned on the Day Happening!

This wasn’t much of a day planned…just have lunch, get the oil changed, and go home. That was how I planned it.
Well, it didn’t happen that way. I have a new car.
It wasn’t a case of getting trapped in a corner with a salesman. One did stop by and handed me a sheet, showing my new payment for a new car, but that wasn’t the deciding factor. It was a lot of things that combined.
So I’ll pick it up tomorrow and then my “old” one (Bestill) will head off to a new home with my niece. Then I’ll get my cardboard sign and stand on the corner.
Join me in welcoming How Great (named after two of my favorite hymns of praise, “How Great Thou Art” and “How Great Is Our God”). Only 36 payments until it’s mine!
The photo is the infotainment system showing the stereo playing a song from one of my favorite albums (Gerry Rafferty’s City to City).

Right! Like the husband who has a sign, “please help, wife’s been in Target for two hours.”

Nice getting a new car. I’m guessing the old one didn’t have the infotainment system, so that will be a nice new addition. I love all the bells and whistles, but reliability is the main thing. I know you do a lot of miles, so I hope it serves you as well as the last one did. I too love City to City.
Happy travels and HNY from your 2nd favourite Brit!

@FourWalls Oh, I thought you had an old jalopy. I knew it had a lot of miles on the clock. Much like ourselves.
I’d struggle to narrow down to 10, but it would definitely be in the mix for sure.
It’s good to be missed, or mistered, whatever the term is.
And being an American site, I really should conform to your spelling standard. But I’m British.

It had an infotainment system but in the dash instead of at eye level.
If I had to pack ten albums for a deserted island, City to City would be on the list.
Happy new year to you as well! Miss your daily appearances and humor (oops, humour
)!

@Orson_Kart — I’m an old jalopy. My car isn’t.

You spell those words with a U and the words we spell with a Z with an S (recognise) way you always do. Just learn to spell “tires!”

@wolfgirl569 — at my age one thing you can count on is boring.

That’s the infotainment screen. It’s facing the wrong way to you because our driver’s side is the left side of the car.

@JudyEv — I don’t need backseat entertainment, definitely. The newer model cars have them elevated at driver’s eye level for safety.

@FourWalls Ours must be in the dashboard but I don't think it has entertainment on it. Some have something for the backseat passengers.

You are such a sweetheart to pass your car on to your niece. I’m sure she was very happy, I know you take perfect care of your vehicle! I hope your How Great carries you along on many wonderful adventures!!

Now the logistics of getting it to her.

@MarieCoyle — she’ll be off work next Friday, so we’ll get the car transferred then she’ll bring me home. That way she can get the feel of modern technology (which feels weird in my new car, which is only six years newer).

Payments aren’t terrible by modern standards but then I think my house AND car payment combined once was the same amount. I told the salesman that the car cost more than I paid for my house and he nearly fainted. So did I.
(I paid $37k for my house 37 years ago, so I’m not living in a shed or something.

My ex-sister-in-law had a wreck last week, so my niece can have my car and just pass ‘em down the line.
They weren’t happy that I didn’t trade it in, but my car is very high mileage (123,000 on a six-year-old car) so they would have found some way to get the money back.

@FourWalls - I fully agree with you. Our car is paid now and we have no intention to buy a new one. My husband drives very few miles each year.
