The first fruit from my new tomato plant

Some weeks ago, I planted a second tomato plant.
This one was called a ‘tomato tomatoberry’, a new hybrid variety. This morning I picked the first three tomatoes off the bush. They are small, like cherry tomatoes but they taste good. I’m hoping I’ll get a lot of fruit over the next few weeks.

So so jealous. I love cherry tomatoes and this is the first time I've heard of the tomatoberry. I would love to try some. Care to share?

@JudyEv You're very welcome.
I wish I could still grow tomatoes during the summer here. I miss eating fresh veggies from plants I grew.

@DaddyEvil I'm hoping my pumpkins will produce fruit. They're growing well and there are a few flowers so here's hoping.

@LindaOHio It would be easy to do with these too. They're equally as tasty as candy.

@JudyEv We used to eat them right off the vine. A quick rinse and pop them in your mouth....like candy.

I've seen some hybrid toms before,
Never tasted them.
Wasn't allowed to.
They just looked like tomatoes but smaller but not like cherry tomatoes
Like the normal fair sized red ones
I hope you gets loads of toms Judy

They don't seem much different to cherry tomatoes, perhaps a bit smaller.

I was surprised to see the red among the green. I'll be watching more carefully in future.

Those look so delicious. I remember my tomatoes in Latvia. I do buy fresh tomatoes occasionally but nothing like homegrown.

It's one thing you can grow that you don't have to buy. There are other things too of course, lots of them, but many get bugs in them, etc and are hardly worth the effort.

They look so good!! I bet you'll get lots more from your plants. I'm hoping to get some tomato plants this year and try growing them in pots on my deck.

They do well in pots. Both my bushes are in pots although quite big ones.

That’s exciting! First harvests are always the best. Cherry-sized but tasty is a win, and hybrid varieties usually produce really well. Hope you end up with loads of tomatoes over the next few weeks—nothing beats homegrown ones. We'll wait for your next batch of harvest. Keep us posted!

Planting tomatoes seems so far in the future for us here. But I generally plant mine somewhere between May 1st-May 15th. We have had a few freeze-ups the first two weeks of May, but not often. Tomatoes are one of my very favorite foods, those look delicious!
