It's Snowing Again...

I grew up on a farm with woods over half of it. But, mom didn't care how far we roamed in the countryside around us. As long as we didn't bother the cattle, the neighbors never cared if we wandered around on their property, either. They'd call mom and tell her when they were putting bulls in the pastures around our farm so she could warn us away from that area. There was a creek running though our farm we could play in and the cattle could drink from but we also had two ponds. In the winter, the ponds would freeze over and we could skate on them. That was always cool. We had horses and Shetland ponies we could ride and it was mostly dirt roads all around us. We'd have to ride a mile to reach blacktop roads. Mom didn't mind if we rode along the highway as long as we stayed off the blacktops. A lot of the time we'd go riding with friends either on bicycles or on horses.

@DaddyEvil I love it, surely enjoyed that. I never really heard you talk like that before. yeah, that place is magical for stuff like that.Its probably where I belong, but life is hard and some things you do not want to see again either if you know what I mean.

@crossbones27 You would have been welcome to come stay with us... Mom and dad always had extra people living with us. They took in our friends when they needed a place to stay and let them stay as long as they needed/wanted. They'd treat you like one of their kids, assigning chores and expected help with the cattle or horses. That's the way I treated Pretty's friends when she was growing up, too. I took in several girls who needed a place to stay when their parents were having trouble. One woman "fell in love" with a dude she met online and took off with him. The husband dropped his daughter off with use and chased the mom for over a year. When it was time to enroll his daughter in school, I had to write to him and ask him to sign custody to me so I could take her to the doctor, get her shots and put her back in school again. He sent me custody papers back in the mail... She lived with us for a couple of years until her older sister was old enough to take custody of her (19 in Missouri back then.) and raise her at her home.

I'm not going outside! It is nice and warm in our house. We keep the temp inside at 74F/23C. I hope you're staying comfortable there.

@DaddyEvil If it is broken they might suggest that they can rebreak it and put it back in place. How did you fall?

@velvet53 I won't let them rebreak it. It still looks like my own nose. I get dizzy without warning and just fall. If I'm close to something, I'll grab furniture, walls or doorways to keep from falling. This time I missed catching the counter with my hands and caught the counter with my face instead.

Thank you. Pretty made an appointment for me to see my doctor on the 3rd. If the snow/ice isn't gone before then, I'll cancel the appointment. Pretty thinks I broke my nose when I fell in the kitchen and hit my face/nose on the kitchen counter/sink. I've been having nose bleeds since then but it's just bloody spots once in a while now. I'm sure there's nothing the doctor can do after several weeks.

We need some freezing weather or the bugs won't die off and they drive us crazy the next summer. I really wish it wouldn't snow any more, though. I'm glad it's comfortable for you there.

I'm sorry that's happening there. Pretty made a doctor appointment for me in a couple of days but I'm cancelling the appointment if there is still snow on the ground. She walked to our doctor's office a couple of days ago but my balance isn't good lately so I'm not going outside until either the snow/ice is gone or somebody else carries me outside. (If somebody is carrying me outside, then I won't care... )

@DaddyEvil - A cold wind is horrible, you can feel the cold in your bones.

@LadyDuck Just the sound of the cold wind made me feel colder even though my bedroom is still the same temp it was before I could hear the wind blowing.

It's 5:30 am and 3F/-16C outside. At least it stopped snowing and it doesn't look like there is very much accumulation this time. But there is a cold wind blowing. I can hear it...

We were at 1F this morning and made it to 14F this afternoon. The forecast is calling for more snow tonight. I'm sorry it's so cold there right now. I'd offer to let you stay with us but I know you'd refuse. At least we have the temp in the house set for 74F.

@DaddyEvil you are lucky but I do have to keep up with stuff here and next Saturday will be ordering my groceries I will survive. They say on Feb 9 we will get up to 71. Something to look forward to,

Crazy skiers love snow but I wonder if they get tired of shoveling their cars out so they can go to work.

@Shivram59 It was about a foot deep when it fell but is only about 4 inches/101 mm now since it's been melting off.

We're supposed to be getting more snow again tonight... I'm tired enough of snow that I've got my curtains in my bedroom closed so I don't see any more falling. We should see melting on Monday and Tuesday, hopefully. That doesn't mean all the snow will go way, though. We shall see.

We were at 1F this morning before I went to sleep. We didn't reach our predicted high of 20F today. It is 14F now and supposed to reach 11F by morning. There is snow in the forecast again for us tonight. I won't be opening the curtains to watch it tonight. I'm really hoping the forecast for Monday and Tuesday is correct. But if there is still snow on the ground, I won't be going to my doctor appointment on the 3rd. I don't know when our car will be done at the garage and hope they bring it back so I don't have to walk to the garage to bring it home.

Pretty's boyfriend lives in Georgia, too. He's always making fun of us because of the snow/ice and cold here in Missouri. I'm sorry you're getting more snow and hope you're staying safe and warm right now.

It didn't stick to the sidewalk or the street.

Thank you. I won't shovel snow anymore. Mother Nature will have to clear everything off. I'll call an ambulance if one of us needs the hospital that bad. Insurance can pay for it.
