Maybe it just runs in the family.

Last night, I couldn't sleep. And no, I didn't drink too much coffee...when I have too much on my mind, that just happens sometimes. After tossing, turning, checking on the son, etc. I decided to go to the family tree thing I have been working on and do some reading--sounds boring enough, right? No, it's not boring, if you know me, you know I love history and learning all sorts of things, including where I came from. In researching my maternal grandparents and great grandparents, I discovered that two brothers from Springfield IL., John and Jacob Bunn, were good friends with Abe Lincoln back in the day. Jacob was even a pallbearer at Lincoln's funeral. My roots go deep in that city, and in this area and there are still many what I term to be shirt-tail relatives there. I love learning more about the roots of my family. I knew there is a Bunn Coffee Company in Springfield, of course. I've driven past it for years when I am there. But in my readings I discovered that the brothers started, and a family member still runs, the Bunn company. I think most of us are familiar with Bunn coffee makers. If you ever worked in a restaurant or any food service, you are no doubt very familiar with this brand. No wonder I have always had such a love of coffee!! It's in my blood!!

I am very bad and am just like mother in that I am awake the night before anything is going on. Can't sleep. I don't go anywhere much now so that doesn't happen often anymore. That's interesting about the Bunn company and all. Friends with Abe. He was a person that it would have been great to have as a friend. Him and Mark Twain I think.

@celticeagle I have always been very interested in Abe Lincoln. Here in central Illinois we have Lincoln’s New Salem village and park, I love going there. So remote and so scenic and peaceful.

I have had several over the years. Of course, then I didn’t have any idea I was truly related to them.

I'm sure people who research their family history find out all sorts of interesting facts - and maybe even some they'd rather not know.

What a fascinating family history. Anyone past my grandparents were in Italy.. I don't know what kind of history is beyond my grandparents.

Interesting family history. I had a cappuccino yesterday around 5 pm while waiting for my husband's appointment and that spoiled my night.
