Lucky Day

Happy Friday the 13th everyone! This is a day I always enjoy, as 13 is my lucky number and also my favorite number. It's also my jersey number on my paintball team.
I always look forward throughout the year to any months in which we have a Friday the 13th. Unfortunately, most of the time I'm working on those days, so I don't really have the opportunity to do much in celebration. However, on this particular Friday the 13th, I don't have to work today, so I have the whole day to plan fun and mischievous things to do.
Does this day bother anyone out there in myLot land? I know a lot of people used to be superstitious, but it seems to me these days less and less people are that way.

I guess maybe our level of superstition is based on our past experiences. If something bad or embarrassing happened to me on a Friday the 13th, I might be more inclined to not like the day as much.

@DianneN The number 13 became my lucky number because whenever I played sports, nobody wanted to pick 13 because they thought it was unlucky, so I chose it. I was very successful at every sport I played, so by default 13 became my lucky number.

Friday the 13th doesn't bother me. I've just made a pot of beanie weenies and then crawled back in bed. Like usual, I'll sleep most of the day away.

It's a gorgeous day here in Florida, not sure if it's the same where you live, but on a day like today I want to be outside much more than I want to be snuggled in bed sleeping.

@moffittjc It's completely overcast here and looks like it could start pouring any minute. We have a 70% chance of rain/storms now and will have a 100% chance of rain/storms this afternoon/evening/overnight. And the same Saturday and Sunday.

@LadyDuck That's always a good thing! I think good things happen to me on Friday 13 because I WANT good things to happen to me. I think there is a certain amount of attitude and perception that helps shape the "luck" we experience on certain days.

@moffittjc I don’t remember 100% but I recall my mother-in-law saying something like you gotta keep the toilet seat closed or money won’t come to you or something like that.

I'm more cautious than superstitious on Friday the 13th. I make sure I walk a little more carefully, etc. The only superstition I have is knocking on wood. So what did you do Friday?

I think one of the few superstitions I do have is not walking under ladders. Oh, and I guess I knock on wood as well.
On Friday, I went on a dinner date with a girl that I work with (with my girlfriend’s knowledge and permission of course). This girl from work is super shy and has never been on a date before, and had never celebrated Valentines Day before. I’m trying to help her come out of her shell and be more social.

@LindaOHio My girlfriend was very supportive. She's met the girl several times at my work, and has begun to develop a casual friendship with her. Plus, she knows that I am fiercely loyal and would never stray or cheat. It was just a "friends" date, nothing romantic.

I honestly think the Friday the 13th hype is just that--hype. In the current state of our world, that's the least of our problems, haha....I am glad you have planned some fun things for the day. Some superstitions are fun, but often people carry them way too far.
I've not heard you discuss your paintball for quite some time. Did I just miss you posting about it?

@MarieCoyle I doubt we'll be playing IN the stadium, but more likely on the grounds outside and around the stadium. For big national tournaments, they usually have about 20 fields set up, since over 2000 teams compete. But it's possible the PRO field will be inside the stadium; at least I hope it is.

I haven’t posted about paintball in a while. Our team won World Cup back in November (the most prestigious tournament in our sport), and we’re getting ready to kick off the 2026 season with a tournament in Tampa at the Bucs football stadium. It will be the first time we have played in an NFL stadium.

It seems more and more people are embracing the fun aspect of Friday the 13th. I have a date planned for tonight, but if I didn't then I would totally watch a marathon of all the Friday the 13th movies!

@moffittjc The superstition maybe true but not to all people. It may happen to some of us. It's just like a lottery that it can be true to the lucky one. It's just sad that it tragic.
