Very expensive hair appointment

I went to get my hair done yesterday. Colored my roots and gray hair. Did highlights. Got a haircut and a blow out. It cost me $265. That’s very expensive. Last time I did all that it was $245, which is still pretty expensive. I don’t want to have to do this as I love my Turkish hair stylist but perhaps I should try to go to a different salon. This is way too much to spend on hair.

I like my hair and want it to look good but I wouldn't spend that much on it. I'm glad you can afford it, though.

@lovebuglena I understand. When Pretty and I got our hair cut a couple of months ago, it was $35 each. That's more than I used to pay for a haircut when I had it cut in 2020... but probably about par for the course now. My hair was to the middle of my back and hers was longer than that.

I used my birthday gift money to pay for it.

@DaddyEvil His prices definitely went up. Maybe because he moved to a different location. For a blowout I used to pay either $30 or $35, don’t remember. Now it’s $40. At least that’s what he told another lady that did just a blowout.

That does seem a lot. I only ever have a trim so thankfully it doesn't cost me an arm and a leg.

I have too much gray hair so I have no choice but to color. And I do highlights because it hides the gray better.

That's a reasonable amount in my experience.

I guess it depends on the person’s financial situation. Seems pricey to me.

@NJChicaa if a person can easily afford it then it’s okay.

@lovebuglena It is certainly what you'd pay at a salon around here in NJ and probably more in NY

I go to Great Clips which is a chain. For $20 with tip I can get a haircut.

@LindaOHio There’s definitely a benefit to being a senior citizen.

Do you have to color your hair? If you pay $20 for a cut and a blowout, that’s cheap.

@lovebuglena I haven't colored my hair since I retired in 2010. It's a nice silvery color. Yes, I've gone to Great Clips for years. A senior hair cut is around $16 now. They usually blow dry your hair, especially in the winter time.

It's up to you how you spend your money Lena If you are happy with the result then it was money well spent

I can’t fathom spending that much on getting my hair done. But you and maybe one other Mylotter seem to be willing to pay that (for now).

Last time I did my hair like this it was in August. I’ve been going to this guy for decades.

I think so too. I need to get a haircut. Now I'm paranoid it will be a lot of $$. We still need to eat.

Can’t you find out how much it’s going to cost you before you actually go through with it?

Oh, no way. I think I live on a different planet...there is no way I could afford that. I wouldn't want to even if I could, but that's just me.

@MarieCoyle I would never attempt to color my own hair. I would screw it up. Plus, I have too much weight to deal with.

@lovebuglena I am sure you could learn to color your own hair, many people do. I know cuts are harder and usually need to be done by a beautician.
