Taller, Thinner, and Younger

Hub’s gait and balance hasn’t been right since his upper spine and neck surgery and rehab ten years ago. He reluctantly booked an appointment at a rehab clinic recommended by his physician. I went along with him for his evaluation and first treatment yesterday, because he thought he was just fine and dandy. Fortunately, the doctor was spot on in his assessment as were my younger son and me. Ahah! The doctor, whose practice it is, started talking sports with hubs, because he was a former college football player and went on for his doctorate afterwards. I chimed in with some football stories, because our younger son played football. Hub’s doctor started talking to me about football, thinking I knew so much. I laughed and told him that he was talking to the wrong person. If he wanted to talk to me about fashion and modeling, I could talk about that. I informed him that I used to model when I was taller, thinner, and younger. He laughed and asked if I was a supermodel. As soon as I told him that I only did local modeling and taught it, he went back to talking sports with my husband. Hubs will see him 3X a week and do exercises at home daily. I did them with him to make sure he did them correctly. Hopefully, as the doctor said, he will go back to Connecticut a new man.

And I thought for one moment there he would ask you to teach him to model.

He was too muscular to even think of modeling, but he looked mighty fine

Ouch, that's gotta hurt. He's so lucky you had the wherewithall to get his situation under control with the help of your son I'm sure.

We have been on his case for a couple of years. I especially got tired of him falling flat on his face.

@rebelann His last fall was in the parking lot at a supermarket in CT. He came home dripping blood. He’s fallen in our yard a few times, too. The worst was in Boston several years ago. He needed stitches. What a day that was!

@misunderstood_zombie Oh, but he was! Each and every time. Once he needed to go to the hospital and get stitches and a CT scan.

I’m glad you went with him. Wives tell doctors the truth about what’s going on with their men.

That’s exactly why I went with him. The other reason is that he promised me lunch at our favorite place afterwards, which just so happens to be across the street

@DianneN That is something to worry about. Would a cane help him.

@jstory07 No, he doesn’t need a cane. He just needs to improve his balance, walk heel toe, and learn how to fall correctly. The doctor will work on that with him.

And my husband started this morning to see a physiotherapist because he has muscles and back pain. Now we know they were separated at birth.

@LadyDuck our son FaceTimed hubs today and told him how proud he was and thanked him for taking his advice. He’s been doing his exercises every day, so far. He begins his 3x per week therapy on Monday. I’m pretty confident he will continue, even if he hates it. Sorry his twin is already annoyed. Keep pushing him to go.

So far, he’s committed and working on his exercises this very minute. Our son told him how proud he is of him and thanked him for acting on his advice. I think hubs is pretty committed. All appointments are set up until we leave

@LindaOHio He always says he’s fine, except the time in Boston when he needed stitches in his forehead. His gait is awful, his balance is off, and he isn’t always walking heel toe. The doctor says that it’s all fixable and he will teach him how to properly fall if necessary. My poor hubs.
