Getting that dairy.

So for months I’ve been eating those Chobani yogurt protein drinks, but like I said, my doctor said I needed more protein. I got some good ideas from @DaddyEvil about something new to do with meat, but I wanted to get protein other ways too. So I started with milk, added some cheese today, as well as eggs. I also found a soup with beans and chicken with 20g of protein, and it was very good. I hope this will be what I need. I’m not worried about fat as I watch just how much of it I eat. She (doctor) said watch the carbs too, of course. I gave up Coke too. Are you a dairy person?

@AmbiePam my Mom and husband love it. I don't like it because it tastes sour in my opinion.

Fat is not really that bad, and it's necessary for healthy skin and hair. But low-fat dairy is a great choice for protein! I adore string cheese, which is a protein powerhouse at 6-8 grams of protein per one-ounce serving, and only 80 calories. You can add one to every meal easily or have them as satisfying snacks. I always keep them in the fridge. One thing to remember if you are eating lots of protein, you also need lots of fiber so you don't get constipated. Broccoli, peppers, asparagus, and whole fruits like oranges and apples with the skin on are great choices.

Giving up Coke must have been hard. I still drink Dr. Pepper though I know I shouldn't.

I love diary products even when I'm lactose intolerant. My stomach can't tolerate soft cheeses though so I prefer the hard ones only as much as possible. My stomach can't tolerate matcha coz they add too much milk in it. So for my milk I use oat or soya milk.

Unfortunately, as much as I like dairy, my doctor/nutritionist says I have to drink soy milk and avoid cheese.

What is it about white milk that makes you unable to drink it? Taste?

Pretty eats the Chobani yogurts and drinks protein drinks but I want real food. I like cheese (American, Cheddar, Havarti, and Colby) and will eat yogurt once in a while. I bought a beautiful pork loin this morning that I'll fix in the next few days. (I can't eat very much real dairy at one time or I'll have lactose problems.) I hope you get enough protein in your diet now.

I am not a milk drinker. I liked it as a child but don’t enjoy drinking it anymore. I cook with it, son has a glass now and then and uses it on his hot cereals and in his coffee.

No, I'm lactose intolerant and have a lot of food allergies, therefore I eat a lot of meat/protein/protein bars instead of food.

There are good carbs and not so good carbs. Brown rice has some protein and is good for you.

I have yogurt most mornings. I make homemade bagels with Greek yogurt and/or egg yolks and cottage cheese. I'm always trying to add more protein.

I avoid milk as they don't go very well with my system lately. But yes, cottage cheese ( paneer, curd etc) are a part of my regular diet.
