A new word for you - syzygy

Tonight, there is a total lunar eclipse. This occurs when the Earth comes between the moon and the sun. Because the light from the sun is blocked, tonight’s full moon will be in shadow. This will cause a ‘blood moon’ as the colour of the moon will turn to a deep and coppery red.
My source said this will be the last chance to see this phenomenon for nearly three years. We’ll be at the movies but perhaps Vince will be interested enough to forego the film to get a chance to photograph a blood moon.
The almost straight-line configuration of the sun, moon, and earth that occurs during a solar or lunar eclipse is called ‘syzygy’. Isn’t that a great word?
The photograph which is Vince’s is of a full moon.

That is quite a good resolution picture!
Quite an interesting word - "syzygy".
I wonder if it is a derived word or having some kind of a Greek or Latin origin?

The weatherman here was talking about it, but he said it will be too cloudy here to see it.

I've heard something about that. I'm not sure we'll see much of anything, but it's still cool all the same.

The photo is beautiful.
I've known that word for some time. It's popped up in some of the books I've read. It's not a word I'd use, though.
I hope you enjoy the movie.
