We talked about me being dizzy and falling, me hitting my head two different times. We talked about the ER visit and what they told us there. We talked about the loss of sensation in my feet. We talked about needing a new ophthalmologist. We talked about me having frequent headaches since I fell the last time. The doctor said she was giving me a prescription that might help with the loss of sensation in my feet but the medication can take several weeks to fully get into my system. She ordered several new-to-me blood tests as well as ordering some tests she does almost every time I see her. (The nurse took seven large vials of blood this time.) The doctor also asked me to walk from one end of the hallway to a door and then come back so she could see my gait for herself. When I turned around at the end of the hallway, I reached out and touched the wall while I stopped, slowly turned around and then started back. She asked what turning around feels like to me. I told her it feels like I'm falling to my right, especially if I don't have something to steady myself with while I turn around. (Pretty told her even when I'm pushing a shopping cart, she walks on the right hand side of the cart and keep correcting my direction so I don't run into people or things. I KNEW Pretty was guiding me at times but didn't realize it was to keep me walking straight.) Here at home, I walk from doorframe to doorframe or from one piece of furniture to another while holding onto each one to make sure I'm not tipping over. She ordered an MRI to make sure there are no small bleeds in my brain that the x-rays couldn't see/show. We talked with her for almost an hour this morning. That's the most time I've ever talked with her. Of course, the MRI will be scheduled in the coming days and it will take a couple of days before any of the blood test come back and some won't come back for over a week. She asked an embarrassing-to-me question about urgency using the bathroom... And I agreed that if I think I need to go at all, I head to the bathroom. When I wait too long, I might start before I get to the bathroom or unzip my pants. (I'm sorry if that's TMI.) That's everything I remember us talking about.

I'm so sorry you are going through all of this, but it sounds like your doctor is on top of it all, and hopefully answers will be more forthcoming.

I’m glad she really listened. Did she say if she was going to try to get your neurologist appointment moved up, or does it depend on what the MRI shows?

She said she can't help with that but that if we get another chance for an earlier visit with the neurologist, not to turn it down for any reason. She said the MRI would be a big help when we do get to see the neurologist.

The hospital called yesterday and said they can get me in for the MRI at the end of this month. Oh, and my A1C already came back. It's at 62 now and was showing 69 three months ago.

The llab results seem to come slow. I really wish you could get that MRI soon and see what's really wrong. I get anxious with this kind of things actually and I want results right away.

I'm surprised we didn't get a call this afternoon to set up the MRI appointment. Things really do move quicker than you might expect here. I don't even know which hospital has the MRI machine around here.

Sounds like you had a productive visit with the doctor. I didn't realize that you had to hold onto things as you go from room to room. Hopefully between the MRI and all that blood work they can finally figure out what's going on.

Thank you. Yeah, I've had to hold onto things for almost a year now moving between rooms. I lean on the kitchen counter to wash dishes or clean the counters. *shrug* I don't always tell everything that's going on with me in my conversations on myLot.

Don't feel to bad. George and I deal with this on the daily. He had a stroke, but still despite that, it's nothing . Might be uncomfortable, but happens to us all. He wears disposable briefs and it helps if he doesn't make it to the potty.

@DaddyEvil It happens as we get older as our muscles get weaker and our bodies change with age. But, then again he had a stroke. And, at first thought he couldn't feel it but it turned out that for the first year getting him to move was like pulling teeth. by year two he started to do more. Now we're on year three, and he's starting to do more and more things and asking for things.

I have the feeling you found a good doctors who are listening to your problems. Good idea to check if there are no problems, the MRI is loud, but not too much uncomfortable. My best wished DE, I hope you will be fine.

That sounds like such a thorough appointment, and I’m really glad your doctor took so much time with you. An hour is significant, and it shows she’s taking your symptoms seriously. I hope the MRI and other blood tests will show the reason for the dizziness and all

Thank you. Her thoughts on everything going on were interesting, to say the least. She did explain some things we didn't know and took care of some minor things we were having problems with, too. I really hope so. I didn't expect to spend quite so much time talking with various doctors when I was still young enough to have fun all the time.

Hopefully, this is something that can be treated quickly once they figure it out. Not too much TMI. As we age, even if we think we don't have to go, we don't pass up a bathroom just "in case."

I think your doctor gave you a pretty thorough examination. The blood tests and MRI should give her more information. I’m no doctor, but she appears to be taking her job seriously. Hopefully, once the results come back, your doctor can make a decision about your issues and help you.

The blood tests that have come back already don't show very many problems, except for the ones we already knew about. My A1C (Blood glucose) level is much better now. My last test three months ago showed it at 69 and now it shows it at 62. My doctor and I were both really happy about that! Thank you. I really hope so.

@DianneN Thanks. A nurse just telling me nothing changed wouldn't be very helpful. I interrupt their information flow and ask questions when they tell me something hasn't changed. I want to know what it was and what the numbers are now. At least he's willing to share information with you. That's always good.

@DaddyEvil That’s great news! My younger son just received his blood work. A1C no change. I don’t know if that’s good or bad, but will ask him when he calls later. Everything else was good, thank the Lord!

Thank you. I appreciate that. It has to do with going to pee... Sometimes I don't make it to the bathroom before I start to pee now so I head to the bathroom as soon as I think I might need to pee. It's quite embarrassing when I can't reach the bathroom soon enough or get my clothes arranged out of the way quickly enough. And, it's embarrassing to talk about it.
