Of Course We Did It! Twice!

Did you think we didn’t take our granddaughter shopping while she was here? Did her parents give her their credit cards? No. Did she use her own credit card? No. Does she have expensive tastes? Yes. Those bags in the photo don’t show what other bags are also inside! Hubs was a real sport paying for everything and never said a word. However, I did. I just bought her Mui Mui sneakers at Saks. Later, we stopped at Golden Goose, where she found beautiful sneakers. I gave her a choice - one or the other. She immediately created a post for her friends to vote on. The results were a tie, so she committed to a decision and decided to keep the Mui Mui sneakers. Later, I felt guilty. Since we had plans for dinner at the steakhouse near the mall two days later, I told her that I would buy her the sneakers as part of her graduation gift. She got them and thanked the heck out of us. Believe it or not, she was able to pack everything into her carryon bag with a tote bag I happened to have for her bikinis, new shoes, and flip flops. I only bought one pair of shoes and had them shipped north.

I'm not much for shopping, so like the martini, you have to do my quota.

Those are pretty pricey shoes. I love finding higher quality clothing at thrift stores. My grandchildren are the same way. When I go to Oregon the end of the month, my two adult grandchildren there want to go thrifting.

@DianneN My oldest daughter and I went to a yard sale together in a retirement park, and found Coaches, Michael Kors and others each for $5. I was floored and they were real. My granddaughters that live with us love to thrift too. We find some fun things.

Her other grammy gave her 3 pair of those shoes, because they didn’t fit her anymore. I once found a Chanel blouse with the price tag on it at a consignment store in Arizona. I still have it. Thrift shops can be lots of fun, too. I hope you find oodles of goodies when you go to Oregon.

She certainly did. Her mom definitely isn’t into fashion, so her dad takes her shopping in New Jersey and then shops for himself. My younger son and my husband like to look good, but don’t have the same genes as we do. Grandpa still hasn’t said a word, but rolled his eyes when I told him I’m next!

We always paid when I brought my niece shopping, but I tried not to spoil her too much, it was always one thing or the other.

You encourage her to shop like that, I'm sure. Pretty and I mostly shop at Walmart when we need/want new clothes.

When I found her in my closet with my sparkly belt in her 2 year old hand, I knew right then and there that she would need no encouragement from me. Her other grandmother is like me. Her mother, not at all, although she called dibs on my handbags.

Better you than me. I'm a fan of nice thrift stores but not so much on fancy department stores.
